King Kong - Extended Edition???

I thought King Kong was pretty good. Granted, 3 hours is a lot of movie, but in spite of that I thought it was very enjoyable.

According to rumors on the net, Peter Jackson is giving Kong the "special edition" treatment just like he did with LOTR - there will be a theatrical version released on 3/28, and a special edition later on in the year (presumably around Christmas). I'm pretty tight with my money, so I'll end up buying only one or the other.

So the dilemma: The special edition is going to lengthen an already too long movie, but if I don't get it I'm likely to miss out on some uber-cool scene that all my friends will be talking about.

What to do??????

well, if it extends before they hit the island...I'm not interested.

if after, then hells yes! after they arrive, the action was just non-stop. so I definitely welcome more action...

I saw this movie in the theaters and thought to myself...I'm getting this DVD when it comes out. Not too many movies do that to me.

maybe they'll add another hour of pointless dialog and shallow characterization before they get to the island. that would really build up the suspense.

Buy it at Costco on the 28th, wait til the Extended Edition comes out, take the original back to Costco and buy the new one.

they need to make an 1 hour removed version.

They probably could have shaved a good half hour or more off the movie if they didn't spend so much damn time looking at Kong... We get it, he's a big gorilla.
