I went to the store yesterday and they had king crab legs (again) for $5.99 / lb. I grabbed the last bag. The store was the one in Hamilton, OH. Other Meijers might still have this in stock, but YMMV.

Just to let you know that I hot in on this deal last year, and the crab was TERRIBLE. IMO a much better deal is Costco has some premium stuff for 9/lb - well worth the cost.

I think it's YMMV. I got in on this deal last time and the crab legs were great :)

I got in on this a little over a month ago - bought 10 lbs. They were very good! :)

FYI, the ones we got were caught off of Russia.

Yeah I get them in the bering sea myself. $10 worth of gasoline, a little elbow grease, and a bottle of captain morgan I can make ~$80-$300 per day for 2-4 hours of pulling up crab pots outta the ice.

Oh, frozen crab from supermarket's = yuk. Live ones right into boiling water = yummy.

I never tried baking one. Wonder how they come out that way

You don't even want to know what I can 'fish' out of the Ohio River. :)

Hard to find live crabs in corn fields in Indiana. Bring some over and I'll enjoy them with you. Until you do, frozen crab from supermarkets >>> any other kind of crab I can get.

Are these the Gargantuan King Crab Legs- one leg weighs around 1.5 pounds or the wimpy 1/2 pound per leg King Crab? The wimpy kind are not even worth messing with. You might as well eat snow crab legs.

That's how much they cost regularly in every Chinatown I've been to (LA, San Francisco, Oakland, New York, etc...). The price most Americans pay for seafood at retail grocery stores is atrocious. You can get LIVE dungeness crab for $1.99 a pound during crab season (normally $5-$6 a pound otherwise) and they'll clean and crack the shells for no extra cost. Fresh shrimp ranges from $4 to $8 for the baby lobster-sized ones.
