Since they were able to sell 360 users a $50 web cam for $150, it was obviously coming to the PC.

But since MS has been trying to harm PC gaming since the Xbox came out, who's going to make games for it?

I just can't summon up any care for this. Maybe I'll change my mind when I see some of the products.

The webcam portion of the kinect is not the best... but yeh it is a little more advanced than a webcam. I don't know of many webcams out there that let you play a virtual ping pong game.

Exactly what can it accomplish that the other 50 keys on my keyboard can't faster.

The quick, easy, and accurate creation of a 3D model of your favorite action figure to plug into a game mod is one thing I can think of. I'm sure others will think of plenty more.

Absofriggenlutely. I'd be all over this.

And I imagine using the kinect to interact with my system outside of gaming would be just as cool as I can imagine.

I could map hand gestures to open certain programs, control volume, scroll, search, shutdown,.....

This. Would be faannnntastic.

This would be absolutely amazing. I really hope that MS utilizes the kinect on the PC for something like this.

Is this what microsoft means by putting more effort on pc gaming?

No, This is what microsoft wants to capitalize on. I believe Robbie Bach (or whatever that Microsoft execs name is) said it at E3 last year when they were talking about Kinect.

They want Kinect to be the center of your living room, ran by the XBOX. eventually there is talk about having your house wired for that same box in the future, so you want your AC cooler, just tell Kintect and it will do it, you want your motorized window shades down, just do it through this central box.

I personally believe thats where things are headed in the future. Science fiction (ie; imagination) drives reality, and this has been done in science fiction many many times before.

Or maybe im just imagining all of this lol

That's correct. First they tried and failed with MSN TV, then failed again with Windows Media center. Now they are trying yet again with the Xbox. Microsoft clearly wants to control people's living room.

Dude 1: "Oh sh**!! I've lost the remote"
Dude 2: *waves arms to change channel*
Dude 1: "Come help me look for the remote!"
Dude 2: *cracks open another beer*

It'd be hell watching read football and celebrating when England score... "ROOONEY!!" *everyone gets up to cheer* *Kinect sees hand gesture and changes channel*

Quite frankly, I like the idea of Kinect, Move etc. so I'm going to be following this one.

Remote control without a remote sounds excellent. If something that really works comes out of this, I might actually get the Kinect.
