Kinect is coming to PC, apparently. According to GamePrix, its latest MMORPG, Divine Souls will support gaming pads which will ultimately make it "resemble console games even more, and is scheduled to support Kinect", the new hands free control system of Xbox 360.
The Korean developer would be the first to get official support if the rumours are true but in a statement to IncGamers, company representative Jason Lim said "Kinect will soon be available as a new controller so it might be supported like joy pad mode in the future," He later was quoted saying "Currently in MS, there are many game companies that are trying to apply for this system."

Great news if true. Kinect apparently doesn't work that well if you're too close to the TV so obviously they'll need to do something about that for the pc version.

Apparently, everything is apparent. Great news though. Not that I care.

I can see a market for this. People with HTPCs would probably flock to this.

Absofriggenlutely. I'd be all over this.

And I imagine using the kinect to interact with my system outside of gaming would be just as cool as I can imagine.

I could map hand gestures to open certain programs, control volume, scroll, search, shutdown,.....

Wow, a lot of naysayers. Its pretty cool tech if you ask me. The kids just opened up ours this morning and it has been a blast so far.

With all the possibilities with the PC platform, I think we will see some very cool ideas.

didn't someone make usb drivers for the kinnect already? to try and make a minority report type of OS possible - minus the stupid gloves?

actually, a small scale version would be nice in phones. no need to touch the screen, just do the motions a few inches away. could even do 'z'

I don't think you're going to see much that you won't see on the Xbox 360. The PC is far from the ideal platform for the Kinect. It requires a fair a bit of space, more than some people have in their living rooms. Few people are going to have enough space in front of their PCs to use it properly.

I'm open minded so will see how it turns out on the PC ,too early to say if its good or bad.

I could care less about games, this is fantastic news if people are able to develop cool and interesting applications (HTPC has been mentioned). Mouse/keyboard/remote-free browsing/media control? I'm in!

You know in those futuristic movies like Minority Report where the displays are holographs and the operators are basically just keying sequences in the air with their fingers? This is the start of that.

edit: Was beaten 2 posts ago. That's what I get for not reading the whole thread first.
