So I ordered a HDX 64gb and received it (with 50 dollar credit via the cyber monday deal btw) Tuesday. I like it, but I was wondering if rooting it to get google play store would violate my contract or something. I imagine it would but there's no way I'm keeping it till I do... heck at 275 bucks (50 bucks off) I don't know if I can keep it anyway lol but... I'd love to root it if possible?

I actually read nothing on what I signed up for anyway lol... stupid I know... but so would anyone happen to be able to link me to any info on what I can/ can't do? I assume if I just send it back by Christmas I won't get charged for it is all.

LASTLY I friggen LOVE this thing IF if after rooting it it acts like my old android 4.0 tablet that broke on me. SO with that assumption the screen is VIBRANT and BEAUTIFUL and the speakers are like WOW!! My desktop 2.1 speakers struggle to sound as good! My point is, at 275 I bet I could buy some serious gadgetry, can anybody compare this to what else is out there?

Amazon has done a pretty good job at making Kindles hard to root. It's been roooted of course, but it doesn't look like a pretty process yet and it never was with the Fire HD either. And from what I've read it sounds like the Google Play apps are not yet ready.

After my experience with the Fire HD, I gave up re-rooting it after all while. Even rooted stuff just never fully worked correctly anyway, like you can't set a wallpaper with a custom launcher, just get a black background.

Fire OS is really not that bad though once you give it some time. And if you happen to have an Android phone, then it's pretty easy to uploads apps from it to Box and then side load them onto the Kindle (I'm assuming side loading is still allowed like with the Fire HD and it probably is).

I think the Fire HDX is a great tablet IF you have a Prime subscription (seems pointless otherwise to me). Otherwise I think the LG G Pad 8.3 would probably be the closest thing, specs aren't quite as nice, but it has micro SD and is on sale for $300.

Thanks! I'll look into side loading (didn't think of that as I'm not so old hat with this stuff lol), Happy Holidays, bud!
