As one of the commenters said: a 7 year old in kindergarten is the first problem with this.

A kindergarten student in western Pennsylvania brought bags of heroin to school and handed them out to friends, said authorities, who on Thursday asked parents to search their children's belongings for the drug.

The 7-year-old boy at a primary school in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Carrick told detectives he gave bags of the drug to three friends over the past few days, police said in a statement released late Wednesday.

A teacher discovered the heroin and alerted the principal, who found 18 bags of the drug in the boy's locker and backpack, according to police. Police searched the school with a dog on Wednesday but found no further sign of the drug.

The boy, whose name was not disclosed, called the bags the "magic ticket" because they were stamped with an image of a rabbit emerging from a magic hat, police said.

It was not immediately known where he got the drug, and investigations by police and a child welfare agency were underway.

Police were asking parents to check their schoolchildren's belongings and asked that any child who may have been exposed to the drug be evaluated at a hospital.

By Thursday morning, three parents reported that their children had bags of heroin that were subsequently turned over to police, according to Ebony Pugh, a spokeswoman for Pittsburgh's public schools.

"We haven't received any reports of anyone being harmed," she said.

Something like that happened in my home town. The kids turned him into the police and the parents were arrested. Apparently, they had done the same thing over and over again (Get out of jail, give their kids drugs to sell in school.)

It was pretty messed up. (I think it was meth as well.)

When will kids learn... if you are going to bring a treat to school you have to make sure you bring enough for everyone.

Ugh, parents giving their kids drugs to sell to other kids for their lunch money. And who knows what kind of shit they cut it with if they're that desperate.
Please resist when the police knock...
No mention of sales, no mention of any evidence implicating the kindergartner's parents, but don't let that slow your leap to conclusions.

Come up with a reasonable explanation as to how a 7 year old came across multiple bags of heroin.

If his parents aren't drug dealers then they let him hang out with drug dealers. Where the fuck does a 7 year old get that much heroin? It may not be the parents, but whoever gave it to him is a piece of shit.

It would be pretty funny if he ended up having a Mexican connect though.

With a kid that old, if the parents are leaving him in situations where he's getting the opportunity to get access to heroin they're responsible.

They may be less probable, but there are other possibilities. Found at a friend's house (friend's older sibling or parents using or dealing), recruited by a neighborhood gang, stumbled across in an abandoned house used as a drug drop...

People have happened upon packages of drugs and/or money washed up on the beach after a boat either sank or the smugglers started chucking it out while being pursued by authorities?

Man, those elementary school kids are really going hardcore, just a few years ago, all we had to worry about was the cocaine burgers.

The US Drug Enforcement Agency is trying to figure out how 30 pounds of cocaine ended up on school property in South Mississippi.

Recently two schools were surprised to find the drug packed in a shipment of ground beef. The DEA believes the instances were coincidental but says schools should be on standby.

In Pennsylvania? 18 baggies is no small amount.

assuming he was trying to sell it at the school i would still find it strange since kids under 10 y/o heck under 16 y/o usually dont carry pockets full of money. so unless he was trying to sell them for lunch money it doesn't exactly pan out too well.

unless you got a network of heroin snorting parents who are using their kids as middlemen =P

Ugh, this is my town, though thankfully not my school district. What pisses me off is that his parents aren't getting charged with anything. But I guess there's not much they can do without additional evidence.

Although school officials said the boy faces discipline, police charged no one in the case Thursday and said it would be a challenge to prove where the drugs came from. The boy said he found them in his parents' bedroom, but police searched his Knoxville home with his mother's consent and found no drug evidence.

"And believe me, they searched well," Chief Bryant said.

"There was a lapse in time" between when school staff discovered the drugs in the boy's locker just before 2 p.m. and when detectives searched the house about 4 p.m. The boy's mother, whose name police did not release, "seemed . . . alarmed when the police were questioning her" and claimed not to know about the heroin, which was stamped with an image of a rabbit coming out of a hat.
