ok, so ive had T series thinkpads for the last couple of years. i *love* the trackpoint and sometimes when im doing things it feels like my flow is really interrupted when i have to use a mouse instead of the keyboard if i dont have a trackpoint available. im going to sell my T60 soon and be using either a netbook or a desktop, so i need a good keyboard.

lenovo makes a full-size keyboard with a trackpoint, but its $80. not gonna happen (probably, unless i get desperate)

are there any good keyboards under $50 or so with a pointer device? IBM used to make one with just a trackpoint but i cant find it :-/

i saw a microsoft keyboard, ergonomic and split with something in the split area, but i think it was a zoom or something? id love an ergonomic keyboard with a tracking device if the price was decent. what are my options? i dont need a combo, i have a mouse or two that i dont need to replace.

I also am quite fond of my T60, and I too like the pointing stick as an option when I don't a mouse connectd.

Anyway - HP has a keyboard with a pointing stick - the nc4200. I see it here and on E-Bay for $36.

4200

Oops! My mistake! It is for their laptop - a replacement part. :{ Sorry! This lists what is available:

all too expensive :(

i use it even when i have a mouse connected. its great when im coding or typing a lot because using the track point doesnt cause the interruption that the mouse does.

im really tempted, though. maybe if i get a decent tax refund ill splurge on the endurapro. maybe. not likely ($100 and its not even wireless!)

Get the endurapro.

I just ordered a Customizer 104. I can't wait for it to arrive and bring me back.

Well, it's buckling spring. To me, that's worth the price premium.

I chose to get the 104 because it's big, heavy and same form factor as the original IBM Model M keyboards. I know people are going to be upset when they hear me typing on it, but they're all going to be jealous when they see how wonderful it is to actually write on.
