Kinda sketchy, but....

I'm hoping somebody can tell me what kind of mobo this is. I only have 2 pics, so I hope somebody will be able to figure it out. I'm not going for the exact model. I just want to know if it's Asus or whatever. 🙂

P.S. Thats an Athlon XP 1800+ and 256 MB SDRAM if that helps you any. 🙂

Thanks! 😀

You're joking right? Those pictures are a joke! It looks like they were purposely degraded. Did you take those? All I can tell from them is that it looks like a mATX format with 2 RAM slots and LAN. Anything other than that would have to be from someone who uses the exact same MB.

Yeah, I know they suck but that's all I have to work with. If I took the pictures myself I wouldn't be asking what kind of board it is. 😉

Well, that's kind of a can of worms. pcChips is the same as ECS. Some people here like ECS, some hate them. I've used them and have never had any problems. According to the two mom&pop shops that sell them here, if they are not DOA they usually work fine. They state that the DOA rate on them is much higher than the Asus, Abit, etc., boards that they sell but if they work, their problem rate isn't any higher than the other brands. They test all of their pcChips/ECS boards when they sell them - they don't test the other brands.

Cool, thanks for the info. I've been reading some reviews for it and I'm getting a little scared. Stories about GeForce 2s not working, etc.. I'm thinking about getting another mobo, but I'm tight on cash. 🙁

Do you know what the intergated video is?

Yes, that's a PC-Chips M810LR. There's a neat FAQ on this board (and yes, it is kind of picky on AGP cards, see that FAQ). Now where's that link ...

That said, the board in itself is a fine product for where it's intended to go - low cost home and office computers for getting some work done. This is not a gamer's rig obviously, although if you keep the resolution low, it's good enough for the occasional 3D game too.

Thanks for all your help Bozo. 🙂 That link scared me Peter! :Q Mic input soldered backwards? AGP 2X? :disgust:

I'm going to have to pick up a new board ASAP. I'm going to be doing a lot of gaming with this PC. What kind of mobo do you guys recommend? Keep in mind that I'm on a tight budget. 🙂 I'd like to get Asus, but they're more on the expensive side. 🙁 I'm sure there are other boards which are just/almost as good as Asus for a bit less $$. 🙂 Suggestions?

Oh, I forgot to mention that I want a SD-RAM based mobo. I don't have $$ to pick up some DDR right now. 🙁

Or maybe a SDRAM/DDR mobo if it doesn't cost much more..
