All this talk about Iraq and N Korea and from passed wars, all the fighting has been done off of US soil. From past history leading back to the days of the Romans, the US are right now the most powerful country in my opinion. It's scary that we can invade anyone at will, but I was wondering what it would take for another country to invade us. Yea so Pearl Habor was close enough, but history depicts that a civilization will eventually fall.

Your thoughts?

They'd have to build bases in Canada and Mexico...no other nation has the naval power to project their forces over the oceans. The Atlantic and Pacific are probably the best defenses we have against invasion.
 
Russia could do it. they'd have to take alaska first tho.

i don't know, i think the battle among developed nations is economic more than military. military expansion is no longer as proficient as it used to be.
 
They don't want to take us over. We have many of their best athletes playing in the NHL.

Attacked and invaded are two different things there bub. Seriously though, only a couple of nations have aircraft carriers and the naval ability to move a good amount of force over the sea. Thankfully we are allies with them. Canada would probably ask for US help if they were being attacked so you could rule that beach head out. S. american countries can't even deal with lightly armed rebels in the jungles let alone an invasion force so I would think that is the likely invasion weakness.

Rome fell through the combination of mass immigration and 'barbarians' from lesser developed countries invading their land. The constant human crush would crumble any nation, and it is already happening to the US.

What is scary about being a superpower? Scary maybe in the fact of all of these jealous countries trying to take us down, if we were Sweden we wouldn't be the scapegoat for all of the world's problems.

Yes we are without a doubt the strongest nation in the world. However America does not dream of being an Empire.

America doesn't dream of being an Empire. That would be true except that's exactly what motivates the Bush League. It's called the New American Century and is our reason for taking control of Iraq.

It's called cleansing the world of threats to American capitalism and dominance. Statehood is not required, nor is perminant occupation.
