they have a ton of too cheap stuff like 9700/9800 pros for under $100 in their refurb section and was wondering if they were legit. right now they have Shuttle SFF's...

Linked!

SHUTTLE SB61G2 INTEL 865G SOCKET 478 REF @ $153.00
SHUTTLE SN45G NVIDIA NF2 ULTRA 400 SCKTA @ $155
SHUTTLE SS51G SIS651B SOCKET 478 REFURB @ 93
SHUTTLE SK41G VIA KMM266 SCKT A REFURB @ $81.00

...seems a bit too good like i said, but you be the judge!

Refurbished or not, it's too cheap, IMO. Also, take a look at the fine(r) print.
CONDITION/RETURN POLICY: REFURBISHED/NO RETURNS
That means that they can sell you a broken or damaged piece of equipment and you can't even return it to them.

EDIT: A refurb SB61G2 costs $224.99 shipped @ newegg. This place has it for $153 and it's the black one, which is usually a little more expensive than silver. Too big a risk, IMHO.

Too me this company looks pretty dodgy. I'm not going to order from them.

That being said, I remember when Newegg first appeared. I could not believe how competitive their prices were and people were speculating about them big time. That being said, I don't think dumpinggoods is another Newegg.

also, like someone else mentioned earlier, their regularly priced items look fine price-wise which makes them look almost legit. they also have a few more ratings on on of the other reseller ratings sites.

the thing i have the biggest problem with is when i tried to call their customer support number i got no answer - just a machine saying they were not available at this time and their mailbox was full
rolleye.gif
... which is total bs if they are trying to come off as a new company or something and more importantly this is the number they have listed for RMA's!

they give you a 7 day window to "call in" and get an RMA number so if you can't get them over the phone then you're sh!t-out-of-luck! nah, i'm gonna pass, but i thought i'd see if anyone here had bigger 'round-one' than i do :)

I have been considering testing an order, but they charge fees if an order is cancelled for any reason (this probably includes if they are OOS) so YMMV! There is a thread on this @ fatwallet.

they have a 1.4 stars out of 5 ratiing at pricegrabber, seems they pull bait-and-siwtches and

"Defective products will be replaced with the same product if the same product is still available. Otherwise, DumpingGoods reserves the right to decided whether to repair the defective product or to replace it with a similar products. Defective products returned for replacement or repair within the warranty period will be shipped back to the customer via Ground Service. "

once had a bad card geforce2 card from compgeeks, they of course replaced it with an inferior SiS card. would suck to have a radeon 9800 replaced by a 9200...

the 7-day warranty beings WHEN THEY SHIP, good luck actually receiving the items within 7 days, so at best u might have a day to test it and if it dies the next day ur out of luck. can't beleive their policies manage to be more atrocious than tigerdirect...

edit: pricegrabber rating:
http://osnews.pricegrabber.com/rating_getreview.php/retid=951/ut=4377f2260b84a7a4
not a single positive and 4 neg/neutral

Which brand was the ti4200? I don't really want to waste my time clicking through each of them...

horrible company...seems like it came out of the dumps. that's how bad it is...ordered something and spammed the hell out of me with order acknowledgements. sent at least 15 emails with the same information. then finally emailed me few days later saying it is out of stock. waste of time...these guys are dumb.

11/13/03 3:05 PM
Poor Service. Waited 3 days to be told item was out of stock and I would not be receiving it. Claimed to have sent email but I never received. If I had not called CS I would still be waiting. The VGA card was available when I ordered it. Obviously a small time operation with no way of updating stock in real time. I Would Not Deal With This Company.

Those cheap SFF systems are tempting, but I'm going to wait for more input from people who've placed orders...

A lot of people over at huge billfold have ordered and one person went to check out their operation. Most orders get canceled including mine. Other people are very happy. They dont have a store, just a warehouse.

Their prices on hard drives, RAM and CPU's are underwhelming compared to almost any good weekend ad at the major office stores. :p

This past Thursday I was going to order an AOPEN AK79G-1394 mobo for $72 and ANTEC TRUE 430 from these guys for a total of $96. Considering Newegg has these items listed for $129 and $70 I thought it was pretty good. Then I noticed that they only had a 7 day warranty on refurb. items. I called them and got a rep. in about 5 min. They told me that the 7 day warranty was true, but the warrantly began from the day I received the item.

After that, I called Aopen to see what their policy was on refurbished mobo's. They said that all their mobo's came w/ a 3 year warranty irregardless of whether it was new or a refurb. They also said they'd mail me the riser cards because refurbished boards don't come w/ them. What a great company :)

After all this I decided "what the hell" and ordered the mobo and PS. After much waiting, I did not receive a confimation e-mail and called dumpingoods back. They said it was going to ship out on Friday and gave me the tracking #. The package is now on it's way and should be here on Wed.

I'll let you all know how well they work when they arrive.

Some people @ obeese billfold :p made out great, getting fully functional NF7-S mobos for $30, while others got crap or incorrect products. So at best it's a gambe, but best of luck to you on that aopen board :)

Thanks for the heads up. Between that bogus "return" policy (no returns at all on purportedly refurbished items, the seven day period FROM SHIPPING to get an RMA coupled with the RMA line not being answered with voice mailbox full, this definately sounds like one shady retailer to stay away from.
