Rumsfeld has been feuding for a long time with Army leadership, and he passed over nine active-duty four-star generals.

They have feuded with Shinseki almost from the day the new administration arrived in Washington.

One other three-star general, Lt. Gen. David McKiernan, who commanded coalition ground forces in the Iraq war, was reported by several Pentagon officials to have been struck off the list of candidates for chief of staff "because of bad body language."

Those officials, who asked not to be identified, said the defense secretary's office reviewed a film of Rumsfeld delivering a major speech in Baghdad last month and judged that McKiernan's body language - he stood with arms crossed and didn't give the traditional "hoo-ah" at the secretary's applause lines - wasn't indicative of "someone who's on our team."

Rummy should have been the one fired for how bad he handling the Iraq post-war situation and for putting troops in danger by refusing to deploy more soldiers to control the situation earlier post-war. Plus he's an old angry man that think with his d*ck, not his brain.... just follow many of his infamous quotes and you'll come to the same conclusion...

No kidding. The least he could do is rotate the guys we've already got there out and replace them with some fresh troops.

He does seem a little too happy to get to play with all the toys... I even heard RUSH say he thinks he's a little crazy.

From the article..

"If Schoomaker is formally nominated, he would be the first general summoned back on active duty to serve in a top job since President John F. Kennedy called back Gen. Maxwell Taylor from retirement in 1962 to become chairman of the joint chiefs."

Not the first time it's happend. You're only trying to make something of it because a Republican administration is in office.

A bit about Gen. Shoomaker from the U.S. Army website.

Schoomaker received a bachelor's degree in Education Administration from the University of Wyoming and an MA in Management from Central Michigan University. He was appointed as a second lieutenant in June 1969 and went to the Armor Officer Basic Course.

He served as a reconnaissance platoon leader From January 1970 through April 1971 at Fort Campbell, Ky. He then served as a rifle company commander in Germany through June 1972, and also commanded a troop of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment from April 1973 through June 1974.

Schoomaker next spent 14 months in Korea, where he served as an assistant inspector general for the 2nd Infantry Division and then as a battalion operations officer.

In February 1978, he assumed command of the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, N.C. Then in August of 1981, he attended the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

From October 1983 until February 1984, he was in Beirut, Labanon, as part of the DoD Commission investigating a terrorist incident there after a vehicle loaded with explosives ran a road block, killing U.S. Marines in their barracks.

Schoomaker attended the National War College at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C., from August 1988 to June 1989. Then he commanded the Combat Applications Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg. He next served as the assistant division commander, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, from July 1992 to July 1993.

Schoomaker then served as deputy director of Operations, Readiness and Mobilization for the Army at the Pentagon through July 1994.

He commanded the Joint Special Operations Command, United States Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, through August of 1996. Then he became commanding general of the United States Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg until October 1997.

In November 1997, he became the commander in chief of the joint United States Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base, where he served until retiring.

Yeah....he's obviously not qualified for the job.

No one said anything about qualifications. No doubt. It's just very unusual to pull a four year since retired general out of retirement, when there are NINE four stars active waiting in the wings for Chief.. Couple that with remarks made about "someones whos on our team" what we have here is a military leadership who thinks the current regime is off thier rocker.

This might surprise you shiner, I've only voted republican. I am a socialist but also being a pragmatist I understand it will never work with peoples current understanding and selfishness so I vote for what will save me money and use it how I will. Plus I'm pretty conservative socaily.

92- Bush 101 lost.
96- Buchanan Lost in the primaries.
00- McCain (the so called i love you candidate by Pro-Bush-GOP fund raisers, did you get the letter?) lost in the primaries.

This time though I will vote Dem if McCain does'nt win the primaries. Anything but a spoiled little frat boy alcoholic lier who deosnt give two shits about his fellow man.
