Would it be wrong to copy a hilarious sentence from a poorly performing student at the school that I work at, and share it with colleagues that perfrom that same job that I do?

If it helps, we're not paid for our worth, but work there because it's an intellectual environment. I'm a tutor and also teach small classes. A few of my co-workers do this, and today I was holding up a paper that was particularly awesome, but I didn't go through with it.

Your thoughts?

Btw, I'm not under any sort of contract.

If they don't know who the person is and you don't tell them who it is, then there's no problem.

If you have to ask this question Chraticn, you are not cut out to be a teacher/tutor IMO :(

Heh, I'm really not. But, in all honesty, this is the Only job satisfaction we get.

Our boss sucks, the kids never behave, don't try, and we're not very well paid for being decently qualified tutors.

Personally, it sounds like you need to find a new job Chraticn :(

Aww, quit with the sad face! But you may be right. I really enjoy teaching, though. The kids that don't try and don't want to, even though their parents are dumping them in an expensive private school ( 290 for 4 weeks at 1 hr a week) infuriate/sadden me to no end.

Ask the "poorly performing" student's for their permission before you "share" their work with someone else. .

I thought you were talking about a public school!

If you really  teaching, leave the "private" sector and try to make a difference IMO Chraticn :)

Do you mean hold it up for ridicule among your colleagues? Seems a bit mean-spirited.

Not wrong, possibly within your duty to your profession, as long as you do not identify the student.

Well Chraticn, being a senior in HS, you should know how you would feel if one of your own papers were shared & ridiculed by the faculity in your school. If you dislike that scenario, your choice is simple IMO :)

If nobody knows who wrote it, though..does it really matter?

It just seems kind of pathetic getting laughs out of someone you are supposed to be trying to help. Even if that person is lazy or dumb or whatever.

See, it started as just a thing where we would compare notes on students to find out their strengths and weaknesses. But eventually, we just began sharing particularly good papers (they are VERY few and far between) and of course, with the good comes the bad.

I'd bet one of the kids may think you are his/her hero. He/She might not act it, but is thinking it. I hope you are not teaching just for the money. As a teacher, you may impact someone's life profoundly.
