I'm kinda building my system:

Cooler Master Case w/ 350 watt
DFI AK76-SN mobo (are these boards and good?)
Amd XP 1600+
512 mb. crucial ddr (2100)
Case fan (2)
Processor fan (1)

Im getting this part built by Monarch Computers and they will burn in my system. So basically I'm getting an allmost working system out of the box. Then as the months go by, I should be adding other components to complete my system. I figure it's the safest way to build my system since I've never done this before.

So far costs will be $700-800 dollars

Then I would add:

Geforce ti 300
Creative Audigy (gamer)
Cdrom 52X (Plexwriter)
3com 56k modem
Ethnernet card
floppy drive
24X10X40 Cdrw (plexwriter)

Cost of added components: $500-700

I have kiplish 5.1's 500 watt speakers.
I have Sony trinton 19" monitor

So my total costs would be roughly $1,300-1,500 dollars, and that includes the setup and burn in by Monarch Computers.

Questions:

Is this a nice setup?
Could i build it for much cheaper? If so, how?
Anyone ever deal with Monarch Computers? If yes, then how do they treat there customers?
Is the DFI AK76-SN a good motherboard? Firing Squad gave them a good rating.
-In addition, firingsquad said that the motherboard only has 2 DIMMs. What are DIMMs? Is that the amount of Ram you can put on your motherboard?

That's it, thxs for the help!!

:)

Kinda. It's the G3 but it comes in 3 flavors now. Ti 200, Ti 300, and Ti 500!! So you like my system? :)

That seems very expensive for a OEM AMD cpu, motherboard, case, power supply, ram, and CPU cooler.

I would shop around a little if I were you.

you might as well bulid the first part yourself, its not that hard and you can burn it in yourself too

I would suggest you build it yourself. This way you will become familiar with the internals of computers and have some knowledge. It's really nothing to it. Just put a few pieces together, install an OS, and boom. Your done.

"That seems very expensive for a OEM AMD cpu, motherboard, case, power supply, ram, and CPU cooler."

The Master cooler case alone is $330.00 AMD XP cpu (1600 +) $130.00 512 mb ddram is $130.00

330
130
130 = $590-600 dollars. then they burn in the system and put it together. That is $40 dollars. plus fans are $25 dollars and I'm getting 3. So add $75 +$40 = $115.00

So: $600 + $115= $715.00

Parts add up after a while
:(

What idiot would pay $330 for a case! Geez, get a GF3 Ti200 and an AntecSX1040 instead.

How would you burn in your system? Also, i'm kind of nervous about building my first system. i would like to fully go that route, but i was just thinking about waiting till I build my next system.

Burn in = Running it

There isn't anything special. They just give it a term to make you think it's important.

Antec's are plain cases? Am I right? If I'm going to put a little money into this then I want it to look good!!! Besides, my case will last for many years. if I decide in 3-5 years to go with another system, I'll reuse my case. If i buy a cheap case then that probably won't be an opition. You pay for what you get. ;)

You pay for looks. Antec cases are solid, with a very reliable PSU. I think they look pretty good, but that's your preference. The question is, do you want to spend $330 to have your tower look good?

Geez, you really are a n00b. So tell me, what's cheap about Antec?

First thing building yourself is easy.

Second 330 bucks for a case, get an Antec case 1030 or something like that which knocks off 200 bucks and buy the TI500 instead.

What type of idiot spends 330 bucks on a case unless your building a high end workstation or a low end server.

"Geez, you really are a n00b. So tell me, what's cheap about Antec?"

You are only a noOb if you aren't familiar with a subject, but you have to start somewhere right? At one time or another, everyone is a NoOb. I could take you into a special education classroom and ask you to perform a behavioral modification technique on some students who have emotional disorders or I could ask you to write a IEP for little Johnny. Would you be able to do it? What's that? You don't know what an IEP program is? Then you must be a damn NoOb!!

I do know a little about computer hardware but actually i'm not that bad. You don't have to be ignorant.

When your a n00b at PCs you don't trash a product you know nothing about. Simple as that. I just want to know what's cheap about Antec cases. Can you tell me what your reason is for that?

Edit: BTW, I said you really are a noob because I figured you know something about PCs. But when you showed your ignorance with your comment I saw you don't know much about this stuff. Nothing wrong with that, I just need to approach helping you differently.

It's basically the same type of case that Voodoo Computer uses. It's expensive, but it's all aluminum. I figure that will be great for heat reduction and the case look's sweet! :) It's just my preference!

Dude just build the whole thing yourself, it'll save you a crapload of money. You can build a system with a better motherboard, higher MHz processor and have everything including hard drive, cdrw, dvd and everything else, all for half the price you are willing to pay them to build it for you. That is ludicrous, I mean if you are worried about screwing up the build, don't.

It's pretty easy to build a system and even if you do screw something up, like say you burn the processor, you can afford to buy three spares with the money you're saving. Don't throw your money away foolishly. That is waaaaayyyyy to much.

Ok that's cool then. I guess I don't know the Antec cases too well, so I shouldn't have been so negative about there product line. I will look at them though. I guess when it comes to PC's, looks do matter. Most of the top niche PC computer makers (NW-Falcon, Hypersonic, Voodoo Computers) are using the master cooler cases. Have you seen any of Master Cooler's product line lately? Just like the Lian Li (sp?) cases. There both expensive but very good.

What is the average price of the Antec cases anyway? thxs!:)
