I work in the LA area, it's crowded, traffic is bad and housing is expensive. OTOH, my work is good to me though.

If you live/work in the LA area, you will be taking a HELL of a lot more than a 10K paycut to move somewhere else. Unless, by "somewhere else" you mean "another LA suburb". Which is, like, most of California.
