Kind of stumped

So Im building a comp for my dad using some parts from my current comp (cpu + ram). The cpu is a 3000+ and the ram is ocz gold essentially both things ran beautifully on my old setup with a dfi motherboard. So it seems there might be a problem with the IDE. When I first plugged in the HD it didnt detect but after making sure I had it plugged in securely it recognized the HDD and burner. But it takes forreevvverrrrr in the Detecing IDE stage, anyone know why? Also it takes forever to load into windows :/ could it be the old HD Im using? Anyone know if there is a way to make it so the chipset fan isnt running at like 100% 24/7 it's extremely annoying lol.

Not sure about the long load times, but maybe in the BIOS turn of RAID? Doing that saved me some time.

As for the fan, you can always replace it with a heat sink. I did that to my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe right when I bought it after reading about how they failed a lot.

hmm I think RAID is turned off. I'll double check and turn it off. I accidently left the power off the HD and booted and it booted up quickly with just a dvdrw plugged in. I had them on seperate IDE cables but I just recently put them on the same cable and I set the jumpers. (Master for hdd and slav for dvdrw)
