On October 1st I bought a new truck from Capitol City Honda, in Olympia WA. I wanted to get a canopy for this truck, so I asked my lender, who has nothing to do with this car lot, if I could finance a extra 1000 dollars to purchase one, they said no problem. This is a standard thing that people do all the time.
Well, I went and orderd my canopy a couple weeks later and the cost came to 900 dollars even. I waited a couple days then contacted the dealer to see about getting the 100 dollars refunded back to me.

My fist conversation with this a$$hole: (we will call him DICK)

DICK: you think we owe you money??
ME: yes....the canopy only came to 900, I think you owe me 100.
DICK: Well we charge a 25% mark up.
ME: WTF you talking about....you said nothing about this when I finaced the canopy. And there is nothing in my paper work about this.
DICK: Well too bad, we dont owe you anything...
ME: Dude, you owe me 100 bucks, and I want my FVCKING MONEY (me starting to get pissed)
DICK: Does 100 dollars really mean that much to you?
ME: yes, it sure the hell does...
Dick: well to bad (in a d!ck-head voice) you arnt getting a dime!!
ME: (really pissed now) Ill take your a$$ to small claims court, I dont give a fVck...
DICK: I dont give a fvck, do what you want
ME: So, 25% mark up eh, what would happen if I spent the whole 1000 dollar? Would I owe YOU money??
DICK: (no comment)
ME: The money isnt important to me....its the idea that you are trying to BULLSH!T ME AND STEAL FROM ME!!!!
(We are both yelling now)
DICK: Well I saved you hundreds of dollars on that canopy, you would have spent 1200 to 1300 dollars on that canopy if we didnt put it on our account
ME: Bullsh!t you fvcking liar!!
DICK: Well I cant help you....you'll just have to have your lawyer contact me
ME: no problem you a$$..
(I hung up on him now)
I hung up from him and called the canopy place and they said if I were to go in and buy it off of the street it would have cost 999.
The guy at Capitol City Honda was a real jerk.....and if I could have reached through the phone.....well you know.
Its not that the 100 dollars means a lot to me, its the fact that he is trying to rip me off.

I just needed to vent a bit....Im still really pissed off. I feel like standing outside there business with a big sign saying stay away from this place, they lie, and they will rip you off!!

Contact the lender and have them contact him. Did he give you a receipt? If so, show it to the lender.

There should be some paperwork somewhere. If its not written down, you win. If it is written somewhere, you're screwed

Dude, if you go out there with the sign, after a while, they will do almost anything to get you off. Just don't stand on their properly, otherwise they will have you arrested for loitering. That pisses me off too that a Represtivive of their company would treat you like that.

If it was truly 25% markup, you'd owe him $125. He is obviously full of sh|t

SAomeone got F'd by a jelery store by me. They decided to sit in front of the store with signs saying what heppened. I'm sure the store lost more than enough than the could have been saved by makingthe customer happy. You will get your satisfaction and the DICK will get fvcked! Everyone is happy then!

swearing does nothing except get the guy pissed. when it gets personal you will never get what you want because you are essentially attacking the dude.

I tried that. All the car lot did was raise the price of the truck 1000 dollars. The only paper I have that says anything about it says "AUTHORIZED ADDITIONS, REMOVALS AND REPAIRS AGREEMENT" and all that paper says is "include canopy-Prestige" (Prestige is the canopy place)
So I have nothing that says 1000 towards canopy...

Well don't give up anyway. They are being real dicks over $100 aren't they?

As mentioned below losing one's temper hardly ever helps and cursing them, although it can be understandable.

Can you get to any upper management? I had a problem once with the serivce department at a Toyota Dealer. I spoke with the service manager and the problem was resolved. Best part was watching the service manager rip the guy (who was trying to screw me) a new a-hole:D:D

In NC you have 30 days to cancel a major purchase. Check your paperwork then check your state laws. If you have the same rights then cancel the purchase (return it) and go buy somewhere else. Its called a cooling off period. Then they are stuck with more than the $100 difference.

First, check your local laws regarding your ability to return the vehicle. Based on the conversation you listed above, I'd be down there in a heartbeat if I could return the vehicle.

Failing that, go with the sign idea. Or, print your story up word for word (it's not slander if it's true) on a flier and make a few hundred copies. First, go into the dealership and tell them what you're going to do. Then walk out and hand them out to everyone you see. You don't have to actually be on their property, walk around to local businesses, people standing on the sidewalk, etc.

If it's just the salesman trying to make a quick buck then their local management will straighten things out in a hurry. If the dealership/owner is in on the deal it may take a little longer and they'll likely still make the salesman out to be the bad guy, but you should get your $100. Plus for the added aggravation they've caused you, the owner should thrown in some free oil changes or something. Just be honest, let them know that you do not appreciate being treated in the manner that you have been and you expect better since you've just made a major purchase. If they stick to screwing you for the $100, write your local newspapers in addition to the complaints you've made to the BBB, etc. The bad publicity will cost them far more than the $100 that they shafted you over.

Pass out the flyers that an EXCELLENT idea. But then you can never go back there for service, b/c they WILL dog your car bad. Assuming you let me work on it, I could do things to your vehicle that wouldn't be immediately obvious to you but would cause extensive long term damage to your vehicle.

Think about it. You have every right to get your $100 back, but if you cross the line, you have to stay on the other side forever. If there's another Honda dealer in your town, your good to go. Your warranty is valid at any Honda dealership nationwide.

I do not go there for service. I go to the Dodge dealer, the truck is a Dodge ram.
Im thinking I might wait to see what they say when the BBB gets ahold of them.
If I do not get the resaults I want, Im going to get a big sign made up, get my lawn chair.....and camp in front of the dealer.
Im layed off right now, so I have nothing but time

Several large errors here.
Firstly, when you lose your temper and your good sense do not start screaming and cursing as this only tells the other party that this guy is a pushover, he will not do anything but scream and bitch, he then gets so angry that nothing that you say will have any effect. He knew right off the bat that you would not go to court or anything else because you chose to do this over the phone instead of face to face.
Write a letter to the owner of the distributership and just explain your problem politely and with good reasoning explaining to him that you bought the vehicle from him because of their splendid reputation and that you will purchase a lot more vehilcles in the future.
You should also state that it is a lot cheaper to keep a customer than to try and get a new one.

Some people fall in love with a vehicle or other stuff and do not read the documents before signing, this may be a lesson that costs you a hundred but it will be one never to forget Read everything before signing.

I think with contact with the dealership owner and a reasonable attitude on your part with him/her you will get your money back.
