What do you need a separate kimchi fridge for?

1) Go to korean market
2) Buy kimchi
3) Open kimchi
4) Close kimchi
5) Place in fridge

Let us know how that goes.

Airtight containers?

A mere airtight container is no match for kimchi!

if a kimchi fridge is for smell only, why not get a college size dorm fridge for it? i thought they only bury them jars in the backyard?

The point of one is not to eliminate the smell.
The main reason peopel use them is because they operate at a temperature below a refigerator, and above a freezer.

I've gotten things frozen in non-freezer part of the fridge all the time, can't you just buy a regular fridge and turn the temperature down.
