Yeah, any man who regularly wears kilts is just begging to be made fun of, screwed with.

Yes. I'm trying to find one I can afford.

Check out the specials at ScottishKilts.net.

The heritage tartan is on special (pre-made) and if they have your size it should only be about $120 shipped to the US.

Do I wear a kilt?
Yes, sometimes. It's not a utilikilt, though I do like them as well. They're comfortable as hell.

Do I where it much?
No, just to Scottish events like Highland games, weddings an such. When I was younger an single I wore it more often out in the pubs in Boston. I really didn't give a sh!t what people said since:
A) most of the people that would say something stupid were guys an I don't swing that way
B) Girls f'n love em. I used to laugh my a$$ off when some girl would try to look/reach up it to see "what I was wearing underneath" with her boyfriend/date right there.

Do I think it will ever take off in America?
No, people hardly ever where them as day-to-day clothing in Scotland, why would they in the States?

I see them a lot here in Seattle, too. The odd thing is that the guys I've seen wearing them do not appear to be the kinds of guys you want to openly mock, unless you want to get your ass handed to you by a dude in a skirt.

When I decide to grow a beard, get a liking for haggis, and learn to play the bagpipes, I'll get one.

utilikilts

I was in Seattle not too long ago, and learned that much to my surprise kilts are becoming the in thing for men (i.e. there were stores there that sold nothing but kilts). It seems like shortly after that trip, I even heard something on tv about how they are becoming fashionable.

So will you be an early adopter? I gotta admit - I'd probably wear some of the ones on the site I linked.

i really can't see man skirts catching on here....ever.... no matter what fashion gurus want to think.

Let me ask you this: would I be better off wearing denim shorts or a kilt? :p

For that price you can get a really nice real kilt. One with a good weight to the wool and that doesn't look or feel like a tablecloth.

There seems to be at least one Utilikilt thread every year. I've seen them for a while, and they don't do much for me. Though I am prejudiced - I've worn real ones for almost 15 years.

This is just what i was going to post. The guys I have seen here in Seattle look like they were extras in Braveheart. Behind closed doors, I think they look goofy, but then again its all relative.

For the the couple I have seen around here this is true as well....

I have enough sense of self preservation not to make fun of someone who looks like much less friendly version Mr. Clean for wearing one.

I think the real question here is not whether or not you would wear a kilt, but rather would you wear something underneath it or not? :D
