Hey dude, at least my PS3 doesn't go "sorta-kinda-broken"...it actually works, since the first day i bought it...the first day it came out.

Your posts tend to be provocative and you, in turn, are easily provoked. Don't get so worked up about things. At the very least you need to be able to disagree with something and leave it at that, rather than escalate things.

PS+ is also not needed unless you want a $3 discount on Cuboid... you can make this argument for any of the discounts, freebies and features.

The bottom line is you aren't seriously comparing being forced to pay in order play any 360 game online to early PS+ beta access to one game that will likely open up to all sometime before launch? Tell me you aren't making that feeble arguement.

Yes, you really need to pay for XBox Live to enjoy playing online; HOWEVER, at least what you pay for adds value. PS+ is just about WORTHLESS!

not considering you get about your entire monthly fee back in discounts. Free PSN games and full demos are a win win for me

To each their own. I'm not interested in the least in free PSN games. And don't those games become unplayable if you cancel your PS+ membership? So PS+ holds absolutely no value for me. I just want a great gaming console where I can easily jump on a voice chat session at any time and not be disconnected. Currently I've been playing Resident Evil 5 co-op with my friend on the PS3 and it is a BLAST (yes I'm late to the game). However coordinating online sessions with friends on other games is a pain in the ass with the PS3. That is where Live pays off easily for me.

As a previous owner of an xbox 360 and live, i can tell you i noticed no difference as to the quality of online play with PSN compared to live.

You obviously didn't play with friends.

And you would know because...you live with me? I played halo 3, cod mw2 and bc2 with friends on xbox live and i didn't notice a bit of difference in the quality of the connection when i moved to the ps3 and played MW2 and BC2.

Seriously man, give up the fanboy crap. Don't try and pretend PSN is anywhere close to XBox Live. I'm not going to get into the a point-by-point Live vs PSN discussion because this is not what this thread is about.

Continue with the Killzone 3 talk...

I'm not trying to start any fanboy crap, in all honesty. It was all the same for me, i actually like PSN better. Those $60 i would spend on live i can now spend on a few used games or a brand new one!

"Fanboy crap" may have been avoided if the OP didn't slant the KZ3 beta as if the PS+'s limited way to dole out beta awards came out of nowhere. The FAQ for the service clearly says that all members might not get into the betas offered.

They are betas, not demos. The developer knows what they are testing for and how many people they need at each stage of the testing. I say each stage because they often have several beta stages that opens things up more and more. The upcoming Assassin's Creed game has had beta signups for the multiplayer portion available at first to pre-orders and select PS+ members. Now all PS+ members can get in on the beta. Later on, they might have a true open beta for anyone.

So how often are betas 100% open on day one? KZ3 is allowing 15,000 players in on the initial beta, but nothing keeps them from adding more later on. Eventually a demo comes out and even more people can try it as well.

Since the beta rules are not coming out of nowhere, it's the OP's misleading tone on what actually is going that ignited the bickering - don't be upset with people who chime in with counter-points to clear the record while tossing fanboy bombs the other direction.

But if that was the goal when the thread was made, then all is well. People will go back and forth over the different systems and their features anyway in a general VG forum until the next generation comes out, then it starts all over again. 🙂

The implication is that PS+ detractors knew something negative was coming. That the beta access rules were somehow too good to be true as previously understood. It's not implied that everyone knew that a limit on beta access was in the rules.

Why? Because of the second sentence for detractors to "now see the fallout" because of KZ3's beta instructions as if they came from nowhere to be a dirty surprise to members. There is no fallout to watch for if the rules were already written up before this promotion was even announced. There is nothing about it that wasn't already mentioned as a possibility.

So the first few sentences together look more like, "pessimistic gamers, you knew there were going to be problems somehow with the PS+ perks, and this bad beta surprise proves you were right. Now watch the ensuing chaos."
