Agreed. I watched the video review and was stunned, especially by the player models.

Also, can you all list these long FPS games you guys are playing that are over 10 hours of gameplay single player? I can't think of more than 1 or 2 FPS I've ever played that had over a 10 hour single player.

What does that have to do with anything? I never said 10 hours wasn't enough (although others did)--in fact that's a good length, especially compared to something like COD4's 5 hours--but what's wrong with desiring more single player content? I think 15-20 hours would be great, especially since there's no co-op to extend the campaign replayability.

Nothing wrong with wishing for more, otherwise why bother to continue making games if what we have now is good enough.

It's just a number anyway, since none of us have played the game yet.

10 hours is enough. Nowadays, I need to fit games around my life, not my life around games. As far as I'm concerned, 10 hours of awesome is better than 20 hours of good. Likewise, I'd also sooner play an awesome 10 hour game twice than a good 20 hour game once. Quality over quantity all the way.

Can't wait to play this game in HD with 5.1 sound. I am really looking forward to it. I think this is the first ps3 game I've pre-bought and paying full price for on day 1

i never said anything was wrong with it, i simply asked for an example of an FPS that was 10+ hours in single player.

But it does seem that if KZ2's single player being 8-10 hours is a deal breaker on an FPS game, then you must not play many FPS games single player.

You should feel a nagging need to play it, though. The beta was very fun/impressive, even to those who did not like the first game or had never played it (I showed it off).

You should feel empty inside without it. :p

No, but seriously, you'll be missing out.

Yeah, you'll be a hollow shell. LOL. j/k

When I first saw KZ2 trailer, I thought "eh, whatever, it looks like a typical upper end shooter, ho-hum", but the more I see actual gameplay videos, with the mechanics, movement speed, the more I'm impressed. My CoD time will surely go down!

I own both the PS3 and 360, and as far as no shortage of good shooters on the 360, the only exclusives (as far as fast paced shooters) that come immediately to mind is the exclusives Gears and Halo. I'll go as far to say and I dare say it, that those two games were a let down to me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed them, but I was expecting more and maybe my expectations were too high.

You've heard people complain of the original Crysis' online play as average? Well, it's the game mechanics that make the gameplay average. Don't confuse the pretty visuals with gameplay mechanics as awesome. Halo in my opinion, without the vehicles, in many ways is similar. Anyways, I don't want to derail the thread more than I have already done, as I'm sure this can turn into flaming fanboys sticking up for their systems.

I guess Street Figher IV will have to wait another month while I play KZ2 :)

I really want to play this game on the PC but it doesn't look like a port will happen since Guerilla is owned by Sony.

I never expect much from FPSes and its rare that they pleasantly surprise me. I wouldn't even have to factor in exclusives for the 360 to have enough shooters for me - the COD series, BioShock, The Orange Box, RS: Vegas 1/2 and Far Cry 2 have been plenty. Halo 3, Gears of War 1/2 and Left 4 Dead just happen to be a bonus.

It should go without saying that this is just my point of view. There are plenty of FPS junkies that have to have every shooter on every system.

Looks incredible. I'm disappointed to hear that single-player is only 8-10 hours long (mentioned in the video review).

Why? People buy FPS games for the MP, not the SP mode anyway.

Not everyone. :)

Unfortunately I cannot. These guys have the exclisive rights for the early review as the embargo is still 02-02-09 for (most? all?) of us.

same reason halo 3 and gears of war are brought up in resistance and kz2 threads.

(which is a reason i don't understand, but it's gotta be the same reason)

HL2 takes me about 13-14 hours to complete on the more difficult setting. Actually, the first time I played through it on hard it took me 16 if I remember correctly.

By what impenetrable logic would it be acceptable in that context and no other?

My logic is a whore and gets penetrated all the time. Be gentle.

But I figure, since the game is exclusive to the PS3, and it's a thread about Killzone 2, bringing up the 360 outside of questioning whether or not the game could be run on 360 hardware, or wishing it was ported over, isn't "useful" conversation.

I'm a little less bothered by purbeast's example of bring up other games - like Gears or Halo - because comparing good games is fine.

But bringing up a console that has nothing to do with the game, merely for the sake of saying you're too overloaded with wonderful games on that console to bother with this game, isn't really necessary.

Tis all.

The 360 will always be brought into a Killzone2 discussion because Killzone2 is the single PS3 game that has immense hype due to that E3 trailer from almost 4 years ago. It's the one game that, if amazing, PS3 owners will always point to for the next 2 years anytime a PS3 vs 360 thread comes up.

So much rides on this single game for the PS3. In my opinion, for the internet gaming nerds, it's one of the few last great bastions of defending the PS3.

I essentially did, but because it was $51.99, not because it came with Home outfits.

MGS4 and LBP did not have anywhere near the hype that Killzone2 has, IMO.
