apparently Official Playstation Magazine got a chance to play some of Killzone 2, and reported it in their magazine with a 6 page story.

in short, they have made me stoked for this game, hopefully it's not too late in 2008. As time draws closer to this game, and more press get ahold of it, it might just be a system seller for the PS3 as much as Halo 3 was a system seller for 360.

meh I just read the whole article, and it didn't say anything that wasn't known yet. the 25 minute presentation of the e3 demo gives more information than that article does, although this article pretty much states a lot of the stuff in the video shown.

the main complaint thus far about killzone seems to be the AI. At this point it seems that the Ai is just terrible from the articles I've read, where enemies would jump over walls so they are exposed to you, then they would hide behind the wall as though they were on the other side, just taking your bullets and dying.

graphically it looks amazing and I hope in the end it plays well, cause that's really all that matters.

and apparently it's like month old, thus why it's not really any new information. But since I wasn't at E3, and many people didn't give a outright full description of the video, it was a good read.

Considering the first one was kinda meh, and also considering that the upcoming sequel only has this kind of attention because of a highly talked about E3 trailer, I'll wait until the release gets a bit closer before I start wondering if it will be worth anything or not.

to all of you, i say 'argh'. :|

i have a thing for dystopian stories, and the Killzone universe satisfies that niche. Not to mention there is so much potential for the story of this game now that it will take place on the homeworld, and hopefully we get to hear more of Brian Cox as he reprises his role as Scolar Visari (a character that could easily become a great game villian if they play it out right in 2).

oh and typically PC is better. And I'd rather have a kb&m with all shooters. I might just use the kb&m if Killzone 2 supports it, seeing as UT3 will support it on the PS3. But if the story can actually be something other than generic, and the AI ends up being great, than I will be very happy.

I just hope this game lives up to the hype, and the tweaks to the formula are great. Presentation was something the first Killzone did real well, but with the attention of a team numbering over 100, it could have been better. This will be the chance to see what the proper attention to detail will wield.

I try not to get to pumped up from hype, almost anything will be anticlimatic otherwise. I am looking forward to playing it though.

I absolutely, thought Killzone was one of the worst games I have ever played. The graphics looked great...gameplay was horrible, there were so many bugs and AI problems, it was like playing a beta as a finished product. I am honestly not excited about KZ2 for that single reason. I will wait for it to release and rent it/read reviews, and try it out before a real legit purchase..

I personally think KZ2 has the potential to be that killer app that PS3 needs. From that demonstration I saw of it, the game looks freaking insane. The presentation, graphics, sound, the peaking out and taking cover ... everything just looks amazing IMO.

Watching that video made me excited to see more of it. HOWEVER ... I've just been reading about how the AI is not shaping up like the rest of the game is.

But hey we have over a year until it's going to be finished most likely, so I'm reserving final judgement. I'm just talking about what i have currently seen and read about current builds, not what it WILL be in the end, cause obviously no one knows.

I personally think KZ2 looks a lot better than MGS4 does. Nothing about MGS4 gets me excited honestly. I don't even think it looks that great. Part 2 blew (played it all the way through) and it made me not even want to try part 3, although I did play it for like 30 minutes. I can't really pass final judgement on that game, but it did not suck me in at all.

I also hardly played KZ1 but the time i did have with it was not htat great.

The MGS series never really got me interested in it, I liked Splinter Cell a lot more. As for Killzone 2, it IS the killer app that will make me buy a PS3 depending on how it turns out, right now it looks amazing.

The only people that really said much about the AI was EGM (*cough*Halo fanboys*cough*). Every other article I read about the AI said it had bugs here and there, but was generally pretty good and very aggressive.

Killzone: Liberation was a good bit better with AI and other bugs present in the original KZ, so I don't have much of a doubt that KZ2 could be very ironed out. GG seems to be more aware of criticisms now than they were with the other two games. They know what was wrong with KZ, and they said they're working on fixing that.

Example: the ragdoll in KZ was pretty bad. Laughable at. Look at the death animations they're using now. It's pretty elaborate, and the previews from websites say it's pretty good. I think general physics (seen in most games now) would have been an expected fix, but they seem to be doing a lot more work than most would for a simple "fix" of an old problem.

I will admit EGM is the main one I read the AI problems from, however EGM is typically blunt and honest about everything and they are the mag that I trust the most by far. I've seen them rip apart every system and games on every console, and I've seen very mixed reivews from their editors as well.

However, regardless of them being Halo fanboys (which I don't agree with) that has nothing to do with what they saw in the AI in Killzone 2. I know I read it on another site (and it wasn't 1up) about the AI probs as well, and it was also somewhat obvious the AI was not up to par just yet from that 25 minute presentation.
