Guys I dont know what going on here but I have killed 6 routers in one year. 3 Linksys, 1 Netgear, 1 D-Link and a Blitz(walmart emergency purchase)
The routers work great for 1-3 months. The first thing I notice is speed starts slowing way down until the routers no longer transfer data from the WAN port.
The LAN speeds will be fine. I go get a new router... test bandwidth with old one(make sure its still mostly dead) hook up the new one configure and blamo full bore bandwidth from the internet again and the cycle will repeat. Now We are sucking down prolly a gig a day but that shouldnt be killing the routers right?
If any of you have had this problem? Anyone know of any good HD routers that will take a good bandwidth hammering?

Have you called for an RMA or anything? Have you tried a different outlet for power (probably a stretch, but you're a freak of nature so might as well try :p)?

2 of the 3 linksys routers were RMA's.. Im waiting on another one to come back right now(will be #4). All the other I RMA received and sold the replacements. Right now Im using the RMA'd Netgear and its starting to fail. Ive got it on a 120V 20amp breaker. Multimeter readings stay at 118-122V so no problem there. the cheapo Blitz router lasted the longest(about 3 full months).

WTF? Routers shouldn't be dying like that. I would say check your power lines, but since you say they slowly die, it might be something else. Maybe you have somebody messing with your routers... that's why everytime you get a new router, everything works fine (different MAC addresses) until a little while, then you start having problems again... anyways, that's just a wild theory.

Transferring 1+ gig a day shouldn't do anything to it. I transfer 1+ gig a day, and have had my SMC router for almost 3 years.

You also might have a problem with the box connecting to the WAN port sending out something that's causing them to go south. If they gradually slow down, it might be something totally different than the router - issues iwth your modem, cable, power, etc. Doesn't sound right, or you just have very bad luck. I've had one linksys for about 3 years with NO problems.
