I actually kinda like this idea, because it would kinda sterilize the hole.. I would have to stand out there with my torch for a long time, though. :p

just get one of those water heating filament things from a hardware store.

they shouldn't be too expensive

I suppose you could use duct tape and a cut-open garbage bag to seal the hole?

Failing that, you can use the arc welder and have fried eggs for breakfast!

Arc welder, hmmm, how does one ground it. Attach to tree or water? :D

We have a winner. BHT is formed into mosquito rings that you throw into a water garden. BHT is harmless to anything that doesn't go through a larva stage. The rings float a layer of BHT over the surface of the water.

Go by the water garden dept. at Home Depot.
