Its a very comprehensive mod, includes a pretty much complete facelift of everything and has a very gritty feel to it. There's still some bugs, not a lot of servers and I had some trouble getting it working right. But once I was in there I enjoyed it. I've been looking for a mod like this for awhile...there's a lot of them in the works but most either stay to far from what I want or don't do enough. And a good 90% of them end up never getting finished anyway

I particularly like how you can use welding torches to weld shut doors to slow down the zombies. I'm not sure what my feelings are on buying the weapons and armor, and I think there are to many zombie 'types' but I can see how you would need that to keep things from getting old.

I used to play brainbread for HL, but it started to get old and the graphics were looking pretty dated. This one brings the teamplay together more since the zombies hunt you down instead of milling around in designated areas.

If you're having trouble connecting to servers, try opening the console and typing "open ipaddress:port" of the server from the browser. (port is usually 7777 but the browser will list that as well) Some one suggested that on the forums for when you just get a black screen and music when trying to connect. It hasn't worked for every server I've tried, but it usually works. I don't think I've successfully joined any other way.

Also, read the installation wiki...you have to do some weird stuff. You need install the patch, then an official UT map pack, then install the patch again.

No more hard drive space? The mod is only like 500mb unzipped and installed I believe. Spend $50 on a 160gb drive. :p

This mod is really damn hard if you play only by yourself. With no one covering your back, or covering you while you reload its easy to get overwhelmed. The zombies always seem to flank you. I had a few pretty tense rounds on westlondon last night. We kept having to fall back over and over again as we started to get overwhelmed. We were finally pressed up against a welded shut door with zombies pounding on the other side and barely holding off the advance on the other side. We had to keep rewelding the door as the zombies damaged it at the same time. We barely beat it and most of the team died.

Of course the next round when there were even more zombies, including the screamers it didn't work again.

I still don't really care all that much for the CSish buy weapons thing. Aside from the fact it doesn't really make sense in the games context...I think a class system would have promoted even more team work. A medic class, maybe a heavy weapon guy class, an engineer class that had a better (or was the only one?) welding torch. You only get points (cash) for killing the zombies so everyone tries to do all the killing. I try to do the support role of healing my teammates but then I have no money to buy more stuff. Its still a lot of fun don't get me wrong though.

My other complain is again...the server browser appears to be broke, and from the forums I'm not the only one. I use the 'open ipaddress' sort of workaround to join most servers without issue. But there aren't that many servers! There's people that want to play...but no one wants to play by themselves so the servers are either full or empty. I've been playing west london using the gate exploit while waiting for other people to join with me. Usually only takes 10-15 minutes but its still pretty boring in the mean time.

I'm waiting for Out of Hell. I've heard Killing Floor was good but is buggy and I don't like the cash thing either, so I haven't bothered with it. Hopefully the finished version of Out of Hell will be released some day soon.

It doesn't sound like the initial release of Out of Hell won't have any multiplayer. In fact, if the FAQ is any indication its just going to be a 'side thing' assuming its ever completed. To bad, the zombie designs for that one looked pretty cool. :/

yeah, it's just single player as far as I know. I sure wish he'd get it completed though. I've played the demo and it was pretty good.

I've checked a few times for servers since I installed KF a couple of days ago and haven't seen any.

Hmmm...thats odd. I usually get between 6-12. Although none of them have great pings and there are several I can't connect too.
