Killing Deep Freeze

At our school, they just installed a program on all the computers called Deep Freeze. It basically undoes whatever you do to the computer after you log off. I really wanna kill it so I can Install Netscape and Morpheus and stuff. I tried Uninstalling it in Control Panel, I tried deleting the files of it on the HD in both windows and dos mode, I tried removing the registry entrys, and it always comes back after a reboot. What do I have to do to kill this horrible app?

Talk to the administrator and explain how the programs you want installed will help educate you and others and reduce the work and costs it takes to keep those machines running. Other than that, get your own computer and stop trying to break the law. 🙂

Hmm...I love Deep Freeze...Of course, I am a bastard administrator that loves to mess with the students 🙂

The admin wont let us install Netscape... It sucks.... It's not against the law at our school to change the computers, the teachers just don't like it. Agamar, I'm gonna figure it out eventually, so you might as well tell me now.😉

It is against the law to do things to a computer if you are not authorized to make those changes. Its called a felony. Also, him telling you some way to "hack it" or whatever (without you having the passwords or whatnot) could also be considered against the law thanks to the DMCA.

At our old school we had to sign forms saying we wouldn't hack or use viruses and stuff like that. At my new school, we never had to deal with that crap so I figured it didn't apply. Oh well, it's not like they'll send me to jail for removing Deep Freeze.

Federal laq applies within schools too 🙂

Talk to the admin. If you can give him legitimate reasons for the software you want on there, he should load it. Give him information on how it will make his job easier, your learning experience better, and how it will decrease costs and you will have the software on there in no time.

I don't really have any legit reasons, I want to load Netscape so I can get past the school's firewall. Our school's firewall sucks so much that it only blocks Internet Explorer and leaves Netscape wide open to the internet. (They blocked Anandtech in IE :|) Anyways, he'd never let me do what I want. I found some info on the web about removing it. From what I read, if you press shift then double click on the system tray then you can turn it on and off. 😀 I'll try it tomorrow.
