Hp I7 quad with hyper threading 2670QM cpu 6MB cache
1GB radeon 7470m gddr5 gpu
8GB ddr3 memory
750GB HD
15.6 in led 1366x768 display
blu-ray player and muli dvd burner

all that for 699 at hp.com with a 450 dollar coupon code and the free upgrade to 8GB ram and blu ray drive.

I dont think there is a better deal out there than this laptop for what you are getting.

You can also upgrade to the 2GB 7690 video card for another 75 bucks

Too bad the screen sucks.

I was just trying to get the best bang for the buck at the lowest price point, you can change the screen to a advanced screen with 1920x1080 for another 150

so 850 with 1080p screen and 925 with the 2gb radeon card along with the better screen

Radeon HD 7470M is a renamed 6490m with 160 4d stream processors at 750-800MHz. Similar performance to a desktop radeon hd6450 which is 160 stream processors at 625-750 mhz

Radeon HD 7690M is a renamed 6770m with 480 4d stream processors at 725MHz. Similar performance to a desktop radeon hd6670 which is 480 stream processors at 800 mhz.

So while the comparisons are not on the same page, you may want to look at these reviews for gaming performance since they used the same drivers and testbed.

6670 desktop which is like a 7690m

Notebook check also has some good benchmarks to get you an idea which games are playable on which settings.

To get you an idea of the performance comparing the 925 option (better screen better video card) to the macbook pro
*this has the same graphic card as the better macbook pro 15"/17",
*the mac has a cpu that is 9% faster (comparing to better macbook pro 15")
*the mac has less memory but that is easy to upgrade (and cheap right now)
*the mac does not have blu ray
*hp has a higher screen resolution, who knows about color quality
*the mac does have better battery life and a backlit keyboard
*the mac is probably built better than the hp
*the mac costs 2199 at most places, or over double the $925 hp.

this is a clearence code to get 450 off because of the new ultra books coming up with ivy bridge cpus.

You can build a 17in hp with a back lit keyboard also and the free upgrade to 750 hd and 8gb ram is a bonus on top of the coupon and for some reason it lets you get tge free blu ray upgrade with it.

You have to select it right and the total savings are way over the 450 coupon code.this laptop will cost you about 1600 at bestbuy and you can pick the faster i7 cpus when building a laptop.

Just wanted to let some of you guys know about it.

I just realised how much of a rip off apple is.

I just priced out a 17in mac pro and it came out to 3,049 and you dont even get blu ray and I dont know if there version of the i7 supports hyperthreading. They dont tell you the res on the screen and the video card is not as good as the 17 in hp I just built for litterally half the price. The hp laptop is also a 3d display and comes with 3d glasses and also has beats audio sound card built in with a backlit key board etc.

the build quality of the hp is excelent and I have 2 hp laptops in my family with no issues at all.

I cant believe how much apple charges for there laptops.

here is a direct compare

Miss typed.

And really its a saving of $100. Without the code there is already almost $350 in "savings". The code takes $450 of but kills the other "savings".

That said all of the configurations seem like a good price. But I would rather get a true clearance PC when IB starts getting closer to release. Probably can get a good price on Alienwares or the GX series from Asus.

The 17 3d i priced above only has 250 worth of instant rebates and i used a 30% off code to get 660 off reg price that is 410 off of the 250 you get direct from hp.

It sucks that i missed this last month because they had a 33% off coupon that would of been over 700 off reg price.

I've been hyping this laptop for a while, since my brother's been using it for almost six months. He and I play a lot of BF3, and this system (with the 6670m, now available as the slightly upgraded 7690m), is actually adequate. I think it sometimes overheats, however, as he occasionally has driver crashes after hours of gaming. Just a warning if you're looking to do heavy gaming, but otherwise, it's a great laptop that serves gamers on a budget.

By the way, I'd upgrade the hard drive to the 160GB SSD for a truly killer deal. HP's price for the SSD is actually reasonable - no more than an aftermarket SSD would be.

If I were personally buying one, here's the setup I'd get (for a pretty reasonable $1095):

•2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM (2.2 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz
•2GB AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7690M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics(TM) [HDMI, VGA]
•FREE UPGRADE to 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
•160GB (Solid State Drive Flash Module)
•High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
•15.6" Full HD HP Anti-glare LED (1920 x 1080)
•FREE UPGRADE to Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner

By the way, OP forgot to post the code/link!

Use code NBDV5528 for $450 off.

Good deal if you want a well-powered quad-core lappy with decent graphics + BD.
