Ok I loaded new logon and boot screens and now it won't boot up. I have a back-up of the boot screen but it is 1.9 MB so it will not fit on a floppy.

Running XP pro.

Here is what it does.

Comp turns on and goes through intel splash screen.
Screen goes to new boot screen with transformers logo.
screen goes black and computer restarts.

I'd try bootin' from the XP CD and running the recovery and using fixboot and if necessary fixMBR.

No, it'll just rewrite the boot record and master boot record to their previous working state, nothing else should be affected.

Whenever I have boot problems like this, I hook my HD to another and fix it that way. What were the lines that you used to change the default pic to the (has to be, they rule) very cool transformers one? If you renamed the transformers one and it is a different size, it may cause this problem. Try booting into safe mode and reset it (hit F8 for boot menu after POST)

The boot screen was a different size BUT it had the same name. It will not boot in safe mode either. It does the same thing:(

What about hitting F8 as Windows starts, and use the Last Known Good Configuration option?
