I haven't even picked it up yet. It was $700 on eBay and it's in Hollywood (I'm in Anaheim). Plus I have to reg it before I can drive it home. 🙁

I couldn't pass the price. I had budgeted $2k for it, so I can dump $1300 into making it pretty without batting an eye.

I'm so stoked!!!!

BTW, if you budgeted $2000 and you spent $700 on it, how do you get to $1700 on upgrades?

my brother wanted a bus like that for his first car

his dad said no and he gotr a jeep....which he plans to sell soon and replace with a vw bus

Yep, six cylinders of air-cooled goodness, add a couple of T-4 turbos and a fan-powered oil cooler and you would be set. 😀

The idiots guide has been around for many years. It is very informative, and any idiot could rebuild their whole car using it.

I'm thinking about doing that with the Z car I buy- find something that needs some work in some aspects, but is excellent in the most important aspects.. like no rust.

Maybe spend 1500$ on something like that, and then immediately dump another 2500$ into it.

I don't know though. It just depends on the deals you can find I guess.. you have to weigh your options.

For example.. It could very well be more bang for my buck to get something that is already ~4000$.. because when people get new paint jobs, performance suspension, etc.. it certainly raises the value of the car, but not quite as much as the retail cost of the item..

So you could consider it saving money in that respect.... Hmmm... lol
