In the American version of Kill Bill, part of the fight scene with the Crazy 88's was in Black & White. I saw a version of Kill Bill that was in full color throughout the entire bloody fight. I consider it much superior to the B&W version.

It also included a scene in which O-Ren's assistant loses her 2nd arm, just before being kicked downhill.

I read that this is how it was released in Japan, but the movie was toned down for American audiences.

Will this ever be released in the U.S. on DVD? Or will I have to go buy a foreign DVD?

And when the heck is the Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 Set going to come out?

Director's Cuts are always better than the original, IMO. Bring on the gore, the sex, the cussing, the boobies...hell, bring it all on in the same scene! :Q

I dunno, that would require an unrated or whatever the adult rating is these days...you can still track down an import pretty easily.

Tarantino loves when people see his work the way he intended it. So I would not be suprised if some directors cut DVD came out eventually. I would guess it wont be part of the main feature though. Probably just extras on some super ultra platinum double collectors edition. Which will come out after they have sold three other 'Cool' versions.

special editions tentatively planned for august.

edit: ive heard the 9th of august being tossed around. actions toys are rumored to be coming out the 5th, so it may be to coincide with that release. i even saw a figurine of pai-mei a week or two ago online.

edit02: btw, no rush for me. i got the uncut version. go amazon.co.jp/ :D

I've been holding off buying these movies because I assume there'd be a special edition at some point. I <3 Kill Bill!

FYI the fight scene with the crazy 88's is supposeto be in B&W, thats how QT wanted it. the transition between them catches you offguard and makes you play close attention, i notice.

The scene of o-ren's assistant losing her other arm was probably taken out due to time constraints, or maybe they felt it wasn't needed. Either way, I doubt its a matter of rating, because they show her other arm being cut off, and.. err.. a hundred or so other arms with funnily-fake blood

actually, it was exactly a ratings issue originally. check the trivia section on IMDB.

I only get to point things out every so often here, don't take it too harshly :p
