quoted from manufacturer website:

"Connect your appliances into the Kill A Watt?, and assess how efficient they are. A large LCD display counts consumption by the Kilowatt-hour just like utility companies. You can figure out your electrical expenses by the hour, day, week, month, even an entire year. Monitor the quality of your power by displaying Voltage, Line Frequency, and Power Factor."

I found that I need to unplug the
Clothes Dryer
Oven
Range Top
Refigerator
Freezer
2 TVs
& Computer

I've already turned the thermostat down to 55 and
am washing the dishes by hand in Cold-Water All.

You guys don't know electricity bills until you've lived in a desert. Until I moved to Wisconsin, having a $250 electricity bill was considered average.

Won't work for me. It almost never gets this cold down here. :)

Does anyone know how much power a Dimension 8400 consumes? I upgraded my Athlon XP 1800+ CPU a few months ago and now my electricity bills consistently run $30 higher. Could it be because of the new PC?

That's not just in the desert. My last 3 months electric bills have been averaging around $250 and I live in Georgia.

$30 is a bit much for a CPU upgrade. Make sure you clean your A/C's air filter regularly.

i ordered it from ambient weather a month or so ago. it's a good store cept they don't give a tracking number.

our electric bill in houston is 500/mo for a two story house. got it down to 420 after checking a few things out with the kill a watt. hopefully getting CFLs soon.

My last bill was $320 here in Houston, and the local supplier just annouced they intend to raise rates by another 14%. $350 here I come ...., pure suckage!

If you leave your pc on 24/7, it will cost less than $20 a month regardless of what you have in it.

I measured my 2400+ and 3800+ at full cpu usage and neither used more than 275 watts.

275 watts * 24 hours = 6600 watts

6600 * 31 days = 204600 watts

204600 watts = 204.6 kilowatts

204.6 * $.083 (chicago price per kilowatt) = $16.98

Total per month: $16.98 if cpu was maxxed out 24/7.

A large CRT on 24/7 may cost $6/mth tho, while an lcd of the same size will use 1/3 of that.

Folks, if you're trying to figure out what your CRT (for example) costs to run for a month 24/7.

Drag up the Excel spreadsheet and multiply the wattage by 720 (hrs in a thirty-day month), move the decimal point three places to the left (convert watt-hours into KWH) and multiply the result by whatever your electric rate/KWH is from your electric bill.

i.e. the monitor is rated at 150 watts...
750*150/1000*$.10 = $10.80
The above assumes $.10/KWH. If your utility charges $.09 the cost would be $9.72 :D:D:D

You can if they run on gas.

We just moved to Georgetownn, Ky. from north central Ohio. We have Kentucky Utilities and live in an all electric house. Temps averaged mid 90's daytime high in August. We used nearly 1400KWH and paid $75. In Ohio we paid nearly $130 for 800 KWH. KU is one of the least expensive electric utilities in the country. We are happy campers.

My gas dryer runs on a 110V standard wall plug. I'm not sure about my gas range and oven.
