Okay, usually I adore kids, I even volunteered at an elementary school a while back..but there is nothing worth adoring about what I saw today.

I was at a friend's house, when about 4 kids..couldn't have been older than 10, throwing ROCKS at someone's car. Sure it was an '83 Cadillac that a bullet couldn't even dent..but what the hell?

I sort of shouted out, HEY, to them, shocked at what I was seeing, and they just cussed me out, and flipped me off. These are like.. TEN year olds! Which, actually might be a good thing, because if they were older I'd be fearing for my life then and there.

What the hell has gotten into kids? And this isn't exactly a real ghetto neighborhood or anything..but damnit, some men need to get their dicks cut off in order for them to stop breeding kids like these.

I know how you feel. My roomate's brother had a friend named Travis.

This kid would cray and break things when he didn't get his way. Cussed out his mom, us (we're about 9 years his senior), his other 10-year old friends. He also threw feces at the other kids when he got mad.

I say they should take his picture and put it on a billboard. Then have a phone number for vasectomies (sp) under it.

There's also a picture from their church camp where the kids are all sitting around Jesus. Travis has a terrible look (like someone just threw holy water on him) and looks like he's going to kill Jesus.

We always yell "Look out Jesus" when we see that picture.

Anyway, possible future friends of his are what keep me from having a kid. That and the friend's idiot parents.

What the hell has gotten into kids?

Nothing. They just realize there is no consequences for thier actions and are taking full advantage of the situation created by lame ass adults. Parents baby them, cops can't hold them, and the schools teach moral relativism. How else would you expect them to act?

They have?....I dunno...I wasn't at the dawn....;)

Maybe so....but you cannot tell me that kids 100 years ago were as violent and bad mouthed as they are nowadays....talking to my 15 and 17 year old cousins....things at school have got much worse since I left school (not college) 6 years ago.

It's really relative. You're more mature then you were in school, and now see thier action in a more objective light. And yes, they were just as bad 100 years ago.

We need caning in the US. I've noticed that the lack of respect isn't quite like the rebellion of previous generations or even the angst of my generation. Look at the last Woodstock and some other instances and say again that times and people haven't changed.

Mebbe it's because I'm in a PO'ed mood because someone did a hit & run on my car but even as early as high school, the younger the kids the less respectful they were toward teachers and even upperclassmen. People that hit and run must die...

Ya sure you really read about a five year old beeting toddlers to death 100 years ago and school shootings were even more common. A not so long time ago an adult, any adult, saw what stringer discribed and they would get the tar beat out of them. Then when they got home the parents would get thier licks in. Your view of history is relativly distorted when you think chewing gum and talking in class was a big deal then.

Do you think that 10 year olds getting involved in organized crime 80 yeears ago was much better? Or how about getting beaten because your english wasn't very good (happened to my great-grandfather, who immigrated from Russia).

I would most definitely agree that those kids were being out of line, and even I would have probably beaten the crap out of them for it, but to say that this is somehow a completely new occurence is turning a blind eye to what has happened in the past.

Well I will have to agree to differ with some people here then....I think things are much worse now than what I have learned about the past and what I remember kids being like when I was younger.....

BINGO!

With no parenting, no discipline in school or elsewhere, how do you expect kids to behave?

Kids just know that there is little anyone can actually do to them. A parent smacks a little bada$$ and next thing you know the parents on CNN getting sued by their kid.

I'd have ran out and grabbed them all and locked them in a closet until the police came. Then throw them and their parents in jail.

Kids back then were more disciplined because they worked in the machine shops 10 hours a day.

Kids aren't any worse or better nowadays than 100 years ago. I remember reading a few different articles as far as school shootings go, and they aren't more prevalent today...they're just more publicized.

The media didn't report 100 years ago (or even 20 years ago) a lot of what it does today. Thus, it's simply more visible to us. That, and when you were a kid, you weren't paying attention to how "disrespectful" the kids around you were like you are now. Things, times, and people change, but it all remains relatively the same.

Isn't that a plato quote approximation?

Edit: Google is my friend: "Children today are tyrants. They contradict their parents, gobble their food, and tyrannize their teachers." - Plato
