Kids safer in large, luxury cars..

Previous research conducted by the two bodies indicates that of all the passenger vehicles available, large and luxury cars had a lower child injury risk than compact or small cars. However, the study also found that large double-cab pick-ups presented an injury risk up to five times higher than all other vehicle types.

That makes no sense......

My only guess is the type of people that drive luxury cars drive safer, and the people with large double cab pickups are more reckless...

My Super Crew F-150 is one of the safest vehicle's on the road.....

They don't even test rear occupants for F-150s

..I suspect a lower center of gravity contributes to a more stable vehicle..which is why the luxury car pans out better in the stats.

There may be some truth to that. Who cares if your vehicle is technically safer, if you tend to get into more frequent and severe accidents? I've driven I-15 from SoCal to Las Vegas a number of times and up/down central California on the I-5 a few times, and the fastest vehicles on the road are... SUVs. Second fastest are old, large cars (ones that used to run on leaded gas). Dunno why, but that's what I've noticed. Third is probably espensive luxury cars and sport/performance cars. Slowest are the cheaper large luxury cars like the Town Car and Crown Vic (except for the police cruiser Crown Vics, those tear up the road).

I did'nt realise a town car was cheap at 46K.😛 anyway you obviously never driven by me in the lincoln .. i cruise at 95 on 15, 10, 40 and 5 where speed limits are 75.😀 I do the same in F350... it'hell on tires on that thing though.

I would agree with that 100%. Consistantly I see pick up drivers are the rudest and most arrogant drivers on the road. You've seen them. T-shirt, jeans, cheap sports cap, goatee, "Union Yes" bumper sticker. They rarely signal. They drive fast and are easily enraged when met with another arrogant driver.

Ignore sticker prices on American cars, they never sell for anything close. You can get a new Towncar for a little over $30,000 even though the sticker may say $45,000.

I don't like the old beat up cars as they smell, don't drive straight, and sometimes drive so freaking slow.
Today some old toyota (kinda looked like the corolla/AE-86) was taking up both lanes of the road for over 7 seconds.
It kinda scared me to pass him when he finally moved to one side.
