kid's mom smashes his PC

Hmm, in possession of a sledgehammer. Someone must be handy, maybe her.

Daddy getting out of jail.

Lots of gaps in the story and the reddit thread is locked.

I would have confiscated it myself and made my kid watch me sell off the parts on ebay (or at least threatened to do so!) .... but I could see being mad enough to smash it to bits depending on what the kid really did.

Its well to remember that if parents fail to teach their children respect for the rules then the world will... and its not usually pretty.

Rules are whatever the fuck we want them to be. One of those rules should be don't traumatize kids because that has a 50/50 shot of creating a kid that will just continue the cycle. The only rules we need to worry about are actual laws, and even a lot of those are garbage. This is just really bad parenting. Gotta keep those emotions, and especially ego in check.

LoL no. If the kid is aware of the rules yet decided to break them repeatedly, yeah he better not bitch when consequences happen.

Consequences within reason. Destroying things is nowhere near reasonable, on any level. As mentioned before, even giving it away or selling it would be infinitely more reasonable.

Its more stupid that some asshat felt he could get YouTube hits on someone else's personal problem, and then have that move repeated on here.

What's really twisted is that there is a good chance that the guy on Reddit might have smashed up his own PC and posted the pictures just for the karma points. We don't know if that PC actually worked before it got smashed, the whole thing might be staged.

My daughters are mature, successful and healthy. And yes the rules my ex-wife and I "made up" are one of the primary reasons.

Newsflash.... everyone at one point or another made up pretty much everything.

If you are a parent who thinks you are being "cool" or are some kind of "special expert" by not setting rules and then giving them teeth by enforcing them you will likely be finding out the hard way you are mistaken. Sadly so will your kids.

Simply shocking I know. 🙄
