yeah saw this on tv. he went out with the reporter and told the reporter how tall a pole was without touching it, etc. it was amazing.

This post, and echolocation are nothing new.

there's an old blind white dude that was on PBS one time because of this. He was credited for coming up with the idea and honing the process then teaching others like him.

This kid here got a free Wii and a lot of other Nintendo junk from Ellen Degenerate awhile back.

That is amazing. I never knew the human was capable of actually using echolocation.

Watch the video. He separates all of the sounds and identifies them as something happening. Wouldn't work for all games (i.e. an FPS that involves stealthily sneaking around a lot) but plausible.

Ray Charles used to do it too, but it is cool to see how much a kid can accomplish with a handicap.

You can tell where things are with your eyes closed by sound (one of the reasons I like driving with the windows open, I can hear when someone is nearby), but it hardly qualifies as echolocation. To really do echolocation, the kid would have to be generating sounds for the echos, usually higher pitch than human vocal cords can manage. Also, no way in hell would that allow him to play video games.

I dont know how you can call this when his eyes are not even in his skull, how in the world can he possably cheat when the eys are removed?

That was just simply amazing and way to go for him mastering somethign like that.

If this is the same method that I have seen on tv, the blind person makes clicks with their mouth, and they actually can convert the echos to a representation of their environment.

Simply amazing, the flexibility built in to our brains.

True, Scott Adams managed to rewire his own brain so he could speak again,
after he developed a condition which robbed him of his speech.
