Kid Sells Video Games

It's been a bitter fight for Democrats, with Hillary supporters either digging deep to try to pull out a come-from-behind victory for their candidate, or instead jumping ship and joining the Obama train. One 11-year-old isn't giving up on Hillary yet, though, since it appears he's sold most of his worldly possessions to scrounge together a $440 donation to Clinton's campaign, which is said to be $20-million in debt.

According to the Associated Press (AP), the boy, Dalton Hatfield from McAndrews, Kentucky, sold his video games and his bicycle to get the money, which he presented to former President Bill Clinton last Friday at a Hillary support rally in West Virginia (to give to his wife's campaign, of course). As the AP story reports, Clinton was nearly moved to tears when presented with the check.

Besides his support for Hillary, Hatfield also apparently looks up to Bill Clinton, and hopes to emulate them both some day. "I want to be governor or a senator, then president," Hatfield said afterwards. Well, if he stays this dedicated to politics, he might have a chance. [Source: AP, via Top of the Ticket/LA Times]

I am pretty sure this was something the parents made him do and its pretty sad that Bill actually took the money.

Hahaha. Doesn't matter. Either demo is still going to lose to a middle-of-the-road republican because of their split party.

Lol, well, at least he is interested in politics. Too bad he isn't interested enough to be able to see a lost cause.

Who wouldn't want to emulate Bill, the dude that got head whenever he wanted, and he single handedly redefined words in the English language.

Edit - When I read the story, why do I picture Ralph Wiggum?

Trying not to turn this into a p&n thread, but thats how I see it.

My personal beliefs aside, it seems a lot of the demos are this way. They either will vote for either Hillary/Obama if they get the nod, otherwise McCain is liberal enough to get their vote.

They're demos, but they hate the other kind of demos.

It's because she wanted to do more with video games long ago that made me not favor her.

How could they tell the kid no? Tell him to go home and buy back his video games after he put all that effort into it? Parents may have had a say in it, but if the kid is so motivated that he wants to become a politician himself, believe me he wanted to do this.

Like taking candy from a baby. The sad part is, not only is it messed up a kids donating money like that, but that the Clintons get GOOD press for it ON TOP of everything.

not trying to turn this into a PN thread, but why?

Aside from the obvious physical differences, they are pretty much the same person. They pretty much have the same stance on all issues.

I think it's more pathetic than anything. In Jon Stewart's words: "11 year old gives money to Hillary Clinton-- and she took it."

What a serious waste of money. Charity would have been so much better of an option.

I thought all young people went for obama? Is it just at 18+ when they qualify as voters?

If this was my kid, I'd bonk them on the head and have a chat about politicians.

Heard this on the highlights of one of Hill's stump/victory speeches. What a waste of money, and I don't know what this kid or the parents were on. Hope the $50 or whatever helps in paying off some of that $20 million debt.
