Kid Rock has sued Red Light District, the California porn purveyors who planned on releasing a six-year-old sex tape featuring Rock's and ex-Creed frontman Scott Stapp's tour bus exploits with a handful of women.
"The main issue is whether the defendants have any right to display or distribute or circulate a private video, and it's our position that they do not," says Rock's attorney Michael Novak , adding the tape in question was stolen from Stapp's possession.
Novak says Red Light District president David Joseph's contention to the News that in order to release the tape all he had to secure was permission from the tape's cinematographers, not its subjects, was "an absolutely unenlightened remark."
A judge granted Rock a temporary restraining order halting distribution of the tape as well a trailer put up on Red Light's website; a hearing is set for 10 a.m. Friday in U.S. District Court to determine if that order should become a permanent injunction. Rock is not expected to attend the hearing.http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060222/UPDATE/602220447
