Does anybody watch this show? Some of the things the kids do seem so rehearsed, its just hilarious.

Welcome to AT

Never watched the show, but I am sure they have plenty of oversight.

I wouldn't mind being exploited for one of those hefty (real) gold stars.

It's funny when they show a kid that barley had any air time, i've never seen them before and it just makes me believe that they are adding kids as the show goes along.

I think the show is hillarious.... partially in a way you can only enjoy if your disillusioned and laugh at the kids who think they're making a "better world".

Not that much different than the adult world. Only kid I thought was cool was the recent one who had a good work ethic.

A) No, because I don't watch reality TV
B) No, because I've heard the premise for this show and it sounds awful; drop a bunch of kids off in the desert and see what happens? No thanks
C) I heard one got burned pretty badly in a grease fire during the show.

Where the crap did that blonde girl come from? The one that always hangs out with Taylor now?

They don't add kids, they just really heavily edit this show. If they introduce a new kid, there's a 95% chance that kid is winning the gold star that week or going home because they can't take it.

The also like to rewrite the basic characterization of some of the characters on the show. Such as DK. He must have had a new writer writing his lines recently because at some point he was the "can't we all just get along? I want to go home because no one gets along" guy, now he's the "temper tantrum sassy sass I don't care if I insult you and argue with you all day long kid".

The best part of the whole show is a tiny little gem in the intro...camera cuts to Anjay screaming, and the editing makes it look like he's struggling for his life. In reality, he's yelling in excitement for hot pizza. Every time I watch the intro, I yell PIIIIIIIIIZAAAAAAA in slow motion, and then have myself a good laugh.

those kids are inspiring. i'm sure it's hard for them to be away from family for 40 days, especially at their age. they're lucky they can watch the show years later when they're grown up and have a kids of their own.

I watched the show one time.
It was an episode where they needed food.
They had to vote whether or not to eat the chickens.
Someone had to get a chicken and cut the head off, in front of the others.
Some of the children were really upset at the thought and locked themselves in with the chickens.

Eventually they did eat the chickens.
It was interesting watching modern day children deal with having to kill to eat.
I imagine lots of adults would have problems with it.

Grease fire, eh? Sounds like they scooped up some kids who'd been tapped for NASA a few years down the road.

Seriously, HOW stupid are little kids? Why would I want to watch them run around some fake town screaming at each other over who tripped over whose Optimus Prime Pez dispenser? Fuck that.

Actually the show is surprising.
They have to decide between things like, eat oatmeal all the time or kill a chicken to eat.
Get a heated super water slide or water pumps that don't freeze in the cold.
The children actually behave better than adults.

I hate reality TV..

But I love Kid Nation. I watched it since the beginning. The show seems genuine enough to me.. And, I really doubt the lines are scripted because each kid's personality is consistent and too complex to be just clever writing.

It's a very good show..
