She was pretty old for the class, 11. Most start ~8 years old.

There are some 5- 6 year olds, but I really don't know how much they retain.

show her the "special areas" to go for in a fight. that ought to make her a bit more aggressive.

If they keep doing it they will remember the stuff. The son of my Karate teacher started coming along when he was about 2 years old.
Just make sure the teacher is a good one, who doesn't let kids who are too young put too much strain on not yet fully developed bones.

Did she want to take Karate or did you want her to take it?

Tease her. A lot.

I second that...keep pestering her and stuff...keep stealing her dinner.

I have a black belt allready. But i had to work very hard to earn it.
TIP:In martial arts it's all about motivation and speed-
Sometimes a fast woman can beat up a man who counts only on his strenght.
(this happens when you fight with queers)

She wasn't too excited for the first 8 months or so, but now the class is 80% boys & she's been noticing boys for about a year:D

Yes.

My point was that maybe his daughter does not really care for Karate and is only taking it for him.

Congratulations. I'm sure you'll feel better about her dating knowing she can beat the everliving crap out of any guy who tries to get too fresh with her. ;)

I seem to recall a pic from the last time she earned a belt (wasn't that last week? jeez, she's climbing the ladder fast!) where a boy was noticing her!

Congrats for her!

As far as more aggressive, even though it is against my philosophy, I'd probably tell her that when she spars with you that she is hitting and kicking too softly.
