because it is so cold and windy outside. Kid is 6 (in first grade). Wife is all pissed off because "all kids trick or treat."
If the kid doesn't want to go, don't force her. Man it's annoying.

Is there a kiddie Halloween carnival in your area? Maybe local parks and rec center or police station?

Maybe that would be better instead of the door to door. Or just drive to your Mom and Dad's place to trick or treat at their house so they can see your kid all dressed up.

Maybe a virtual trick or treat?

Hook up a trick or treat program on the computer. Your little girl can trick or treat that way. It's safe and warm!

If she doesnt want to go, dont force her.

But she could wear sweatpants/sweatshirt under her costume. That should keep her warm.

Dress her up as a puppy and stake her out in the front yard for all the normal children to laugh at.

I'm pretty sure "Virtual Trick or Treat" was the pitch line behind chatroulette.

Letting his little girl on there would be highly irresponsible.

My son (11) decided not go to this year.
Past 3 years, it's been wet, cold, windy.

I had a few trick or treaters just now.

I locked the door and turned off the lights. Good bye, treaters.

When I was a kid we looked forward to it for weeks. Afterwards we would have a huge candy trading session then pig out on the candy until we almost puked.

I saw a survey on the news this morning that said 53% of kids would rather receive cash than candy when trick or treating now.

Geez.

It's winter! (weather wise) cold is the name of the game. That's why Halloween costumes need to be made to fit over a parka. :p

Can't believe how early they start these days though. I just got home from work and I already got 4 trick or treaters. If it's like last year, by 10 it will be all over. When I was a kid we were going till like midnight. Midnight was considered the lights out time but the universal signal was lights off if people wanted to stop earlier or ran out of candy.

What's funny is I can pass for a 12 year old, it would be funny if I went out. I bet I'd get lot of candy. LOL.

Also why does my doorbell always stop working right before Halloween. I really need to get rid of this wireless battery operated crap and put in a proper wired one. It would actually be fairly easy to do because of where my new sub panel is.

Kids doesn't to go out because it's miserable outside you should be proud of raising a kid with some common sense. Risk sleeping on the couch tonight and tell the wife to back off. Don't force the daughter to do something she's against, all that will accomplish is to make sure she hates trick or treating forever.

it must suck to live on the east coast during halloween - the (normally) great halloween weather in SoCal means more than enough slutty halloween costumes to go around.

My oldest daughter is spoiled with candy year round. Last year on Halloween she wanted to stop after an hour because she was tired. I had her trick or treat for the next hour with her brother and sister.

The only reason a kid doesn't want to go is because they constantly have candy. I didn't get candy during the year so I was ecstatic to go.

my vision of fall involves walking by hot girls in short skirts on my way to a pumpkin spice latte.

Mine is walking in the woods with grey skies, and the cold air stinging my face.

I think it snowed one year and I still went out. What kind of hippy communist doesn't trick or treat on Halloween?
