Kid cheats, school punishes kid, dad sues school

"I'm getting a lot of hate calls at my office," said Berghouse, who practices family law. "I had no freaking idea this would happen."

Dumbass lawyers ...

Punishment for plagiarisms is pretty clearly defined in rulebooks, I wonder if he has a real case. But the school district will probably have to spend $$$$ to defend themselves and might want to settle for a payout... BIG douche, surgical castration should be in order...

The father should be thankful he was just kicked out of the class.

In College your ass gets an X on your transcript, which not only denotes an F, but that you cheated and is a Kiss of Death. Do it again and you get expelled permanently.

Then try homeschooling ...

Children need to learn the difference between good and evil, if his children stop going to school, how will children learn about evil, about what to avoid, about what to stay away from in real world?

school's reaction to dumb fuck lawyer dad suing them for punishing a kid for cheating:

by the way, does ANYONE else see a problem with the fact that the dad says he didn't know this would be as big an issue as it has become? seriously?! you thought it'd be totally cool to sue a school for punishing cheating? that's like trying to sue a ref for making the right call.

Here's a parent who happens to be a lawyer, so he's in a position to cost the district thousands in legal fees and it costs him nothing. He wants his kid to be able to weasel out of the punishment that he agreed to in advance (signing the honesty pledge) because Dad believes it's "confusing."

I would be amazed if this is the first time Dad has thrown his legal weight around to bully others in order to protect his kid. His position on this matter is laughable.

He probably figured the district would cave when he went legal on them because of the cost to defend.

Dad says, "there is the possibility this could cause permanent harm." And your point, Dad? The kid cheated and agreed to the punishment in advance. Maybe you could spend your energies teaching your kid right from wrong and that wrong actions have consequences? That would be a good lesson; a lot better than "let dad get you out of trouble."

surprised the school didn't just cave and give the kid an A. That's the normal way things are done.

When my wife was teaching, she gave her students some project about creating a magazine of sorts with math articles/articles about mathematicians. Half of the kids just copied word for word from internet sources. One girl was even stupid enough to print her article in color and leave all the blue hyperlinked words from the wikipedia article. The plagiarism was so blatant it was ridiculous.

Reaction from the school once parents started bitching about my wife giving these kids an F on the project? Uhhh, lets just not count that project you spent dozens of hours grading. Maybe those poor kids didn't understand.

Did you even read the article? Where did it say he was kicked out of school. He signed a pledge not to cheat ... he cheated ... he got caught and got kicked out of the "special" class. he was NOT kicked out of school. He was put into a normal class.

Where did this good vs. "evil" crap come from?

I was not talking about the lawyer or his son... 😀

There should be a law where if a lawyer files a frivolous lawsuit, his law degree gets revoked and he is banned from practicing law ever again. Too much bullshit in this country.
