Or am I wrong that a 21" Mitsubishi aperture grille monitor for $200 is a great deal? I went to an auction today, and they had a slew of these monitors with mainly 200MHz Pentium Pro computers. Each one was selling for around $200 or $225 (+17%, tax and buyers premium). They were in very good condition (Gateway branded). I had to leave and when I came back, they were all gone. Damn.

I thought the best deal of the day, though, were three SGI Indigo workstations (one was "Indy", two were Indigo II, 2 17" and 1 20" monitors) for $200 each which I thought was probably a good deal. They were fully functional, but I have no idea what the processors were or the memory/drive capacity. Same guys who bought those also bought 10 Sun SPARC stations with 20" monitors for $200 each.

Last 21" monitor with a Pentium Pro 200 with 128MB RAM, Adaptec 2940 SCSI, Plextor CD, and Jaz drive sold for $300. Ah, well, I guess there will be more auctions.

As for the SGIs, the Indy id not worth it, but the IndigoII is a pretty good machine (though completely outdates, but still has pretty good 3D capabilities). Where was that?

This was in Marietta/Atlanta, GA, this morning. I had to go help my wife with something for work and was forced to leave for a few hours. :| This was a computer sales and service company that went out of business.

I looked up those SGI Indy's, and I guess it depends on what they had in them for the price. I found some on e*Bay selling for over $500 (the Indigo II's) and that's without a monitor. I tend to think that they may have been that good since they looked fairly new.

One other deal: A 1995 Dodge Viper hardtop with 18,000 miles sold for $35,000. :D

$35K for that Viper was actually a pretty good price, Kelley Blue Book trade in value is over $38K. They got a good deal.

The car was in very good shape (minor cosmetic problems -- engine looked perfect and body was perfect), but since payment was in cash, letter of credit, or cashier's check, only the wealthy need apply.

They also had a forklift. I don't know what that sold for though. :) (they are actually fun to drive around!)
