if you are in an environment where you cannot get real bass (ala subwoofer) then these kits give you the effect. They work, but nothing can beat the real stuff.
I would be tempted to install some of those to cover 1hz-10hz effects and have the subwoofer do 10-40hz bass (with the main speakers doing the rest) - I just dont have the know-how to make an active crossover :/

Yeah, I just have 4 Aura Bass shakers hooked up to our seating and I really like the effect.
My own are set up in two sets in series giving an 8ohm load to the L and R channels of a 50watt sherwood stereo receiver.
Turned up even 1/4 of the way is too much for us.
If you're looking for a light to moderate vibrating effect, one of these per seat is plenty if you ask me.
When these have plenty of headroom for us I don't see the need to get anything with more "kick".
When I turn them up more than a low level, it just feels like too much and too gimmicky than anything. I find them most enjoyable when they're just giving a little edge to the sub output.
How many seats are you looking at?
Unless you have an actual theater going it might be nice to give each seat it own shaker?
Depending on how you set it up you could probably even give each person control over the shaker level if you wanted to.
I can do that with ours by changing the balance level between R and L output with one pair attached to one seating area and the other half on the other seating.
I have some pics of them here

There's a movie in there I took of them just sitting on the ground vibrating away.
If you have any questions about my own setup, let me know. I think it was a fun addition for a little over $100.

Yes actual theater and design would be for each row of seats to have its own motor. In front of each seat will be a water sprayer for special effects as well.

The mist is controlled with a computer. (MIDI) Now duh who would've thunk it? It's possible to SOAK but that will never happen unless the unthinkable happens which is NOT part of the show! :Q
