So I wiped my PC as a part of my project here and installed Vista. I didn't have any problems playing Call of Duty 4 in Windows XP. I didn't have to change any settings or do anything else.

So I installed Call of Duty 4 on Vista and got into a server and got kicked for PB init failure. What the? I didn't have this problem on Windows XP? Vista is supposed to be flawless! Now I need to find some sort of fix. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm really not imagining this problem...

That sucks! So even though I'm an admin I have to run everything as administrator? I didn't have to do that in Windows XP.

Windows XP +1
Windows Vista 0

Note: Framerate seemed to be really bad too. I got the latest drivers from ATi's website for my X1900XT. I used to get in the 40-60FPS range average now it's 30-40FPS range. Maybe I can find some sort of tweaking crap that can help.

Try some of my so called tweaks(well not really tweaks) disable Windows Defender real time scan(I set mine to scan once a week) also install the latest DX9.0c updates(be surprised how many people forget or don't think its needed for Vista).

Microsoft DX9.0c update link .

Hey, this is me. Some lame mod decided to give my other account a week off. He doesn't like my opinion of Vista it seems. Nobody is allowed to talk about Vista. What is this, Fight Club or something?

DX9c was "installed" with COD4. I found out the problem though. I had enabled Adaptive Anti-Aliasing in the Catalyst Control Center. In Windows XP I use ATITool and never set that enabled. I'm back to 40-60FPS in the game now.

Note: To any moderator, I'm very aware of ways to circumvent any banning. That includes IP address banning. I am also aware of what legal action can and cannot be taken, I am well versed in that area so no threats please. Thanks!

Hey we are so happy you came back, so we can bid you a fond farewell. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
