If I ever say I am going to wrench again, feel free to kick me in the nuts.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a mechanic. I wrenched on anything I could get my hands on.
I got in high school and had a 1950 Ford and then a 1966 Mustang Fastback. I wrenched just to wrench. Then I found girls with big boobs. They didn't like my grimy fingernails. In those days, we didn't have the good cleaners that we have now days. We used gasoline and MEK. So long auto mechanic and hello Big Uns. So I wrenched on those.
Sometimes now days I get to feeling nostalgic and want to wrench. But something always goes wrong:
I bought a Tacoma recently and figured I'd replace the tranny filter and change the rear differential fluid. The rear end went OK. (As I am typing this I get a call, my mother had a heart attack but is OK. Have to drive up tomorrow)
Pull the pan and filter, filter isn't the correct one but at least the gasket is. Back and knee hurt, can't see shit under the truck.
I am done wrenching, I am too old for this shit. I'll stick to boobies.

Sometimes now days I get to feeling nostalgic and want to wrench. But something always goes wrong:
- Frozen nuts/bolts that take an act of God to remove.
- Parts come in that are the wrong part.
- I wear bifocals so work in tights spots is frustrating.
- Torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders.
- Just hosed up left knee (cartilage/ligament surgery in 1978) not sure what's going on.
- Arthritis and 3 partially collapsed discs in lower back.
