From PressTV

Former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami and opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi will join the leadership of a new party to be formed by Mir-Hossein Mousavi.

Last week, defeated presidential candidate Mousavi announced that he was working on forging a new party -- named the Green Path of Hope Association -- to pursue his political goals.

Alireza Beheshti, a senior aide to Mousavi, said on Tuesday that Khatami and Karroubi would be members of the party's central council, ILNA news agency reported on Tuesday.

"The central council of the Green Path of Hope will be a small group of five to six, including Mr. Khatami and Mr. Karroubi," Beheshti said.

He added that the party would also include a 'counseling board consisting of 30 to 40 members' who are to be chosen over time; as well as 'monitoring committees'.

The new Green Path of Hope Association sounds like a prayer, but it may work well in Mousavi's favor in the Green movement.

With name recognition and a pissed off populace, they need little money.

Sadly, the old Iranian evil empire can simply remove them from the ballot because they have censorship veto powers over all candidates.

Overcoming this takes revolution, which is often (but not always) violent.

Its kinda weird how the old guard in Iran is playing things, on one hand they want to throw the book at ordinary citizens who dared to protest, yet they pee their pants over punishing their fellow politicians who have switched sides.

And when you mention the front men, K, K, & M, we can't forget the hidden hand of Rafsanjani who can bankroll a political party out of petty cash.

They already punished Rafsanjani by taking his daughter.

They'll also need to win many more mullahs to their side before their party could stand any real chance in any "election."

Money and religious influence (control?) = power in Iran.

Regardless, they still wouldn't be very friendly with the U.S. and its allies; which is something we always need to remember.

The regime seems to be in the early stages of alluding to dark deeds on the part of Mr. Rafsanjani. I suspect he will not still be a free man in two years' time.
