Can anyone recommend a mobo to me that has similar specs as the KG7? I will need to order soon, and I'm afraid that the KG7 won't be released or reviewed in time. Key similarities are RAID, DDR, 6 PCI (maybe I could go down to 5), ATA100. Going to be running a Tbird 1.4

Closest thing is the gigabyte 7dxr, but you won't have an easy time finding it now.

The epox 8k7a is also similar, and if you want raid, there is a 8k7a+ version. The non raid version is at Newegg.com for about $130

nice board that also has the amd 761 chipset (like the kg7)
ddr
6pci
raid
and if you run a search on the forums you will find people getting the fsb overclocked as high as 190mhz :)

I've got an Epox 8K7A. It's the most stable board I've ever owned or used. If you absolutely need RAID you can go for the Epox 8K7A+ which has the Highpoint HPT370 controller onboard. It has 6 PCI (the Gigabyte board only has 5), ATA100, and 2 DDR slots. Don't worry too much about the lack of DDR slots, though, as 512MB DIMMs will be hitting the streets soon and most people don't need more than 256MB (512MB at the most) anyway. Besides, with any AMD 761 board with more than 2 DDR slots you have to put registered memory (more expensive) in all the slots in order to have it work correctly with all the slots filled.

Hmm... to be honest I am a bit concerned about the number of DDR slots, but that's really my only major complaint. See, the problem is that I do video and image editing, so RAM is crucial (excuse the pun) for me.

nope, the Epox 8k7A is not similar, it has only 2 DIMM sockets and the HP controller.
I think the 7DXR and the KG7 are closer, if you talk about features. The 7DXR has additionally the dual bios, the KG7 4 Dimm sockets. You need REGISTERED Ram for the 7DXR and K7G if you want to use all DIMM sockets. For the Epox un-registered RAM is enough, means you can probably use your existing DDR memory one.

In terms of performance: these AMD 761 + VIA Southbridge boards are almost identical, even the older A7M266 is still as good in most benchmarks than the newer ones. Don't expect any mircale, it's the same chipset.

I kinda like the Epox........ almost just like the KG7 onlt it has 2 dimm slots rather than 4.

6 PCI, high voltage I like it.... its cheap as well
