When I plug my Iomega zip drive into the third IDE port on my KG7 the windows 2000 splash screen takes about 5 minutes to load and when i try to access the drive the my computer freezes up. When I unplug the zip everything works perfectly smoothly. I've got my HD on the first IDE and my dvd/cdrw (master/slave) on the second. Anyone know if there is something I need to do to get the second two IDE ports working? Thanks.

There is a known issue with VIA 686B chipsets and Zip drives. You can go to Via's forums and try there workarounds however the're not always successful. I tried them all without success and ended up buying a promise ultra100 tx2 which resolved my problem completely.

by 3rd, do you mean the HPT controller or the via ide controller? The HPT one doesn't support ATApI devices

buy a USB zip drive... that's what i had to do w/ a A7V133... i tried everything... nothing worked... i have actually found it is a problem w/ the zip drives... cuz i have also had probs on intel boards... but i have had no probs w/ the USB ones...

note: i have only had this prob w/ zip 100MB internal zip drives... i haven't tried the 250 internals...
