Wasn't he was the first ever high school to pros star?

I can't believe Grant Hill is still in the NBA. Wasn't he in NBA Jam for Sega Genesis?

Grant Hill has had years and years of not playing basketball not taking a toll on his body due to his various injuries, that's why he's still around.

Starting in high school or not doesn't really matter. There is a precipitous drop in performance once a player hits a certain amount of minutes - regardless of age. The minutes take a cumulative toll on the body.

I'm too lazy to pull up minutes to performance of specific players that came out early, stayed in, or didn't go to college, but it's pretty clear that starting age in the NBA doesn't matter.

Take a look at Kobe and figure that he's been in the playoffs for another 220 games + olympics and do the math on miles he's put on his body. Garnet has almost half the number of playoff games that Kobe does. That's like another 1.5 seasons worth of playing.

They have only about 1000 minutes difference. KG has played 3k more regular season minutes and KB has played 4k more playoff minutes in total. They are like 51k vs 52k minutes.

That's not even 1 full season even with the minutes that KG now plays. A season in his prime is around 3k.

And somehow Kobe is still up there with the best of em. It's pretty damn amazing how little it's affected him. A lot of players lose their athleticism and drop off the face of the earth.

Minutes are one thing, having your season drag on another 2 months for the majority of your career is another. Not to take anything away from KG though. He's been one of the most durable, and consistent big men to play the game.

Yes, he has done well despite the drop in his athleticism. His offensive game completely changed to accommodate this. His defensive game is hopeless in comparison to his more athletic years.
