Not the latest games (i.e., Crysis 2, Witcher 2). You would need a GTX560 Ti/HD6950 for that. GTX550 is an overpriced card since you can get a GTX460 for about $100 on sale; and the 460 beats it easily. You are better off getting a GTX460/560 or an HD6850/6870 if you are on a budget. There is no point in spending any $ on the 550 since for a little bit more you get a massive performance increase.

well you dont put a higher end gpu in a system with a cheap psu. can you at list list the model so I can see if it is actually decent enough?

You do if the GPU uses less power than his current one.
The HD6850 stock uses less than a stock 550Ti, and 550Ti overclocked cards are around the power use of a 1GB GTX460.
Despite being on the lower end, they aren't low power cards. The KFA2 even has dual 6-pin connectors.

where was I comparing a 6850 to a gtx550? my post had nothing to do with any specific card at all and I was only talking about in general terms.

The GTX550Ti White seems to be over £130+.
HD6870 can be had for less than that.
The GTX460 1GB is marginally more expensive than the 6870 but less than the 550.

I'm in total agreement with everybody on this thread. If you keep that GTX 550 Ti you'll be very unhappy with its performance. Grab a GTX 460 1GB either from MSI or eVGA. I have 2 in SLI and they rock!

So, you already bought it?

Expert tip: Ask first. Buy last.

You still didn't list the brand or model, but this last line doesn't look promising.

i would like to say that i built my pc my self im not a big computer super nerd but i know enough to get me along. when it comes 2moz i will post some benchmarks for you if they are rubbish i will get a 6870 if its ok ill keep it.+ i have a cheap psu already in there its caused no problems at all i am aware it will probs die by the end of the year but 4 20 odd quid im not moanin.
