KeyScrambler Personal worth using?

This makes no real sense to me. If this plugin gets exploited, its becomes the key logger. A browser should not be interfacing this low in the system.

Interesting I'll have to check it out.

I can understand layered security and fallback protection tools... but this does at first glance seem a bit extreme -- if your system gets owned so badly that there's a keylogger on it then you can pretty much kiss goodbye the privacy or security of *all* your files as well. What about sensitive data stored in text / document files? Don't you keep copies of passwords or financial / personal data in those? How do you secure those when your system itself is backdoored?

I suppose if you never keep sensitive data in disk files and you're ONLY concerned about revealing passwords or confidential information while you're typing then this could help a little, but that is kind of far fetched. It could probably scrape your screen or emails and see exactly what you're typing in that way except in cases of passwords.

I guess it could be cool to run in a VM if you browse in the VM for a little extra security for the passwords etc.

I'd have to question whether I'd trust the *authors* of such a tool, though, there have been plenty of cases where freeware (or commercial) utilities themselves are spyware.

If using Vista with UAC no need with IE7. It's in sandbox mode 😉 I used to like FF but Christ on a boat it take a bigger footprint in my setup than IE7 due to add ons...and it isnt any safer anymore.

That said, it looks ok but like Saga said, if IT gets exploited, well...
